Just to correct any false impressions from some, I am a trained Intensive Care doctor and am currently working for the DoH on strategies for coping with a second wave of COVID. I do not want a fight, but I will correct factual innaccuracies.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
MASKS may protect others from you, they do not protect you from others. RESPIRATORS [ N95 etc. ] offer you protection from others.
Thank you for your opinion but on this we will disagree. As I trust professionals here. With my life.
Over and out from me as it is a pity to risk derailing an excellent thread .
And no need to SHOUT!!!!
How please do I report posts here ? SHOUTING False accusations and misleading info.
Hi there, I'm a health professional, and I'm afraid masks don't keep you safe.
They have an effect, and they reduce your risk slightly, as well as slightly reducing the risk you pose to others, but the difference they make is only small.
Hand hygiene and social distancing are much more important than mask wearing, which is another reason why I don't want to see anyone getting too hung up on whether or not people are wearing masks.
@debs64 don’t worry debs, this poster has acted like this before, stormed out, deleted posts, come back with a different name. Youre only stating the truth, I would also believe Punkdoc over anyone.

My concern is that a lot of people think wearing a mask means other precautions are unnecessary and when they are worn under the nose, as many are, they are useless. I notice those in masks get a lot closer to me at work ( I deal with the public) @Lyn I didn’t realise islandanchoress was not new.
I personally wouldn’t criticise or even frown at anyone not wearing a mask. People still have freedom of choice and I respect that.

Yes @lyn, and every time we welcome her back ‘cos we know how much she has said she values this sort of contact ... and we send her seeds and knitting needles that she wants and never hear any more from her ... but wise folk bade us to ‘love our neighbour as ourselves’ and I think that’s a good idea so I try to do it, even tho some neighbours live a very long way away indeed.
Someone else wise suggested that we shouldn’t judge someone without walking a mile in their shoes. I try to follow that as well ...some times are harder than others ... and sometimes I doubt that others ever think of walking a mile in my shoes 😉
