  • Thanks @Blue Onion that's appreciated. :)   My son has had a lifelong interest in world politics and political history ... he has friends in Russia and the Caucasus, and others in the US and is in regular communication with them.  Two in particular he went to school with them here in the UK as their father was in the USAF and stationed near our home.  One of them is pretty hardline Republican and the other leans more towards the Democratic side of things.  Their take on things at the moment is 'interesting' to say the least. He should have been very busy this year touring the States with a UK band who are very big over there ... he should've had the time of his life ...  :'(

The GCs are open over here but they are only allowed to sell gardening products, all the other aisles of clothes and tat are cordoned off in line with smaller shops selling non essential items which are closed.
  • I cant see that garden centres are essential at all.however I think they should be open.and all shops. It's all lunacy.the government hasn't got a clue what it's doing. Track and trace?test? Hopeless.cant see us ever getting out of this mess.ive hardly been anywhere and shall continue to stay at home apart from the grocery shop.but many many others are not sticking to the rules.
  • So true!! I'm just getting really fed up with it all...why cant everyone be good?!!

Looks like we’re in for a long haul again, furlough scheme extended to March 21.

@Lyn , my husband and I were wondering about that announcement - he works for a non-essential shop, so is affected by furlough decisions.

We've come to the conclusion (possibly falsely!) that the government are just planning ahead for the country being in and out of lockdowns over the winter. I'm assuming they might open the shops for the Christmas period, as it's a main trading period, then possibly a new lockdown in the new year? Otherwise I don't know why else it would have been extended for so long.

Goodness knows they'll never get the population on board whatever the decision - rightly or wrongly, too many people I know (crossing age groups and backgrounds) have indicated that they will not be complying as strongly as they did for the first lockdown. Too many people are sick of it.

I’m heartily sick of it too ... but I’d rather put up with being sick of it than risk being sick with it 😷

What, too many people are sick of not being ill, or worse?

  • The problem is @punkdoc, it’s not exciting any more ... they’re ‘bored of it’ 🙄
