Sorry, but anyone who thinks everything returns to normal after the vaccine does not understand the science.

I think most of us now that 'normal' will be different.
If you don't have or refuse the vaccine it just b*****s it up for the res of us!

My current feeling is that I will feel a bit more at ease once my older family members have been vaccinated, but I will not feel comfortable to suggest they can start seeing people again until the state of the numbers and hospitals are greatly improved (like in our few good weeks over Summer). Sorry to be glass half empty but I can’t see things changing for months yet.

My cousin’s  daughter, got her degree in nursing, into a COVID Ward, except its a whole floor, in Norfolk, had her vaccine before Christmas, very ill now, tested positive,  things will be far from normal. Ok, she probably won’t die from it, she is not hospitalised, which is what the vaccine is intended for but she’s not at all well.

Thanks for sharing, @Lyn . We need examples out there to make the point that it's not a magic bullet to suddenly make everything OK.
I had a chat with Mum this afternoon. She said she was surprised to be invited for vaccination so soon, but that she'd heard that there are folks with dementia and suchlike in care homes whose relations are refusing permission for them to be vaccinated. She didn't say where she got this from, but if it's true it beggars belief.

My eldest daughter who's a radiographer in the nhs, is refusing the vaccine as is some of her colleagues. They're not entirely convinced about the safety.

That's obviously their choice but once all who have been offered the vaccine have had it those who have refused will just have to take their chances.
The country cannot afford to stay on lockdown because some will not have the vaccine.
I will be having mine as soon as it is offered!

She's worked all through the pandemic so far @madpenguin and has only recently started being tested twice a week. Not sure if or when she'll change her mind and opt in..

The Queen and Prince Phillip have had theirs. That might encourage a few more.

My daughter is a practice nurse and works in a doctors surgery and has done so throughout.
She will be declining the vaccine for now as she and her husband are trying for a baby and she was advised not have the vaccine until later on.

I think seeing young people have the vaccine would encourage more people to have it rather than 'us oldies' @Lizzie27 .
