Went to the hairdresser today. I wore my disposable mask correctly and pinched at the nose. By the end of the procedure, I was spitting out hairs - into my mask of course.
I saw one where a lady made disposable masks for blue shop towels and that adhesive tape used to keep your deep V dress in place to avoid indecent exposure. No ear loops for the hairdresser to work around. Just tape at the sides, but under the chin, and a few inches across the bridge of the nose.
I doubt a blue shop towel offers much protection (and is probably unbreathable).. but the idea of using that tape is good. You could just use a disposable mask with ear loops cut off.
Well, I wont be getting it done again for a good few months. Hopefully things will have settled down by then or at least someone might have come up with an effective mask, if not a vaccine.
I think it's back on the rise everywhere now.. as most places have opened up. I'm all for supporting local.. but if you can't do it outside, with a mask, six feet distance, and in less than 15 minutes.. it probably shouldn’t happen. You should be able to call the pub to order your chips and mash, show up with your travel mug for your pint-to-go, and walk back home and watch your Korean football matches or something.
Got some mask spacers from Am@%on today, made from food grade silicone. They take a bit of fiddling to get in exactly the right place, but they are great once on. They just sit inside the mask and keep it away from your mouth. I got them for myself and my two little boys for school. My husband has a short beard, so he has a 'built in' spacer already.
I only tried them on, so haven't worn them long.. but they have solved my main mask issue.
Now to just get the rest of society wearing them. We went out for ice cream tonight, and no one else was in the shop so we masked up and took our children into a public building for the first time since March - as it's one of those fancy places with lots of choices, cones, and toppings. We were half way done when two other couples came in without masks and stood about two feet behind us(!). I turned around to glare at them a few times, and as soon as the boys ordered my husband took the boys outside while I collected their cones. Bah.

The little co-op shop near me has a recorded announcement that is played regularly saying "Please wear a mask if you can, but remember that not all disabilities and health conditions are visible so please be kind to shoppers not wearing a mask."
According to my neighbour the majority of exempted wearers are men, she was a bit disappointed to find so many in our small Tescos.
Its just a massive waste of energy to get worked up about other people not wearing masks. Its a much nicer world if we all just assume that everybody not wearing one has a genuine legitimate reason and don't give it a second thought.
The stories of people being abused for not wearing them are just horrible, I don't want to live in that kind of world.
