I've often been accused of being pedantic , but believe me I actually sprayed the crisp-packets with disinfectant and sanitised my hands prior to opening them .
Hope everyone OK in your family !

Well thank you Punkdoc for all you have said. Knowledge and sagacity are an incomparable combination.

Punkdoc - you have been the stabilising influence and much-needed voice of reason on this thread.  I have come to rely on this for good, sound advice, without the hysteria on the TV.  If you don't post any more, then I understand, but I hope that you reconsider.  Please.
I don't post often, but I read daily.

"I wonder how many of them would have got through either of the World Wars."

It's been a constant theme, running in my mind for the last ten years.

How lovely. I think the neighbours in our streets are getting fed up with the neighbours checking they are ok. Long may it last.

If we can't produce enough food or water for the current population, then surely we are over populated.

In regard to Covid 19, it would be a lot more sensible to listen to what the experts are saying, although I realise that nowadays experts do not get a lot of respect. Check out what virologists are saying, they do not have a vested interest.

I am finding it utterly incredulous that people are still being allowed to flit the globe via air or sea ; their apparently implacable desire for foreign holidays posing an increasing risk to everyone else . All travel abroad , unless absolutely necessary should be banned .
Personally I think that all suspected cases should be isolated until this is sorted out once and for all .
Daily in the UK new infections are being reported ; I have an appointment at Hull Royal Infirmary at the end of March (just under four-weeks) . At this rate I will probably cancel because by that time maybe a hospital is not the ideal place to be !

There is something rather ironic, in that the final animal vector in COVID 19 was Pangolins. They are an animal that the Chinese capture from Africa, as they believe in the power of its armour, which is just hair.
I think we can be certain things will get a lot worse. I have been asked to be part of a group of relevantly trained Drs. who have been asked to determine who should or should not get critical care if needed.
Due to my own health I have turned this down.

I can well understand, and support Puncdoc.  This is a totally new, never before heard of, experienced virus.  To date.  There doesn't appear to be any indication that such a world-wide virus, epidemic would ever come about.  The ancient quote. 'The well made plans of man'  So, so sadly in this case.  There were no plans.
Punkdoc, being a practicing medic and having, sharing many of the problems most of us have.  I admire and applaud the medical services wherever they are.  To be asked to decide.  Who does or does not get the best ICU care.  No thanks.  I and my medical friends are not GOD.

As Papa Jo says.  Stay at home.  Stay safe.

I am in the high risk age range.  I'm 80.  Registered disabled. I have cancer, colitis/IBD, heart probs; aortic valve disorder.  To me.  Life is so valuable.  To date.  I can't get food delivered etc.  Thinking of POW's from WW2.  I am sure we can survive, even on the minimum.  Hey Mike.  You've lost weight.  Yes John, but I'm still here.

    Be advised and stay Safe.

Keep well and safe Mike (and everyone else of course)  You should see some of the c**p posters put on Mumsnet!  Watching the news last night these arogant ******* in North London, blokes, am guessing in their 30s, "Well, we drove round to find an outdoor gym open, most of them  had tape, but we found this open".  Reporter to another tight t-shirt bulging muscles, "arent you worried", "Oh, well, yeah, I am worried for MYSELF, but I am not sick".  I think hes sick, and makes me sick.  BBQ in Birmingham, sounds like a rom-com title, broken up by the Police! 20 people. My kids are worried about their jobs, money, I have 2 sons on whatever long term sickness benefit is called these days, both over 30 miles away, the most serious one, luckily his sister works in a (food) supermarket in the town where he lives, said she will drop food if need be.

Said to them all, forget about jobs, money, if we all survive as a family, that will be the main thing.
