Morning - a mizzly drizzly day here. SM run to do then I'm visiting a neighbour to see some work done by the window replacement company we're thinking of using. Will be good to hear how the company operates from a customer point of view - although we've been impressed by what we've seen so far. It's a very small, local, family business and we like to support those when we can.
Not much change with FIL and they don't really seem to know what to do with him. Hope they at least transfer him back to York soon so it's much easier for all the family to visit.
Fed up with having no SKY box. Did I mention that the scaffolding put up for the guttering etc is blocking the signal to the satellite dish? Normally it would have been removed by now - but the scaffolders couldn't be on-site at the same time as the tree surgeons😬 - so it's Monday at the earliest.
Don't watch many SKY programmes as such but I very much like the functionality of the Box. I rarely have to watch live TV and there's lots of access to programmes and series I want to watch.
Keep pressing the pause or rewind button during the news and other programmes - but that doesn't work on 'normal' TV😬

Afties all. Had a good mooch around the GC and came home with two 'grow through' plant supports for my borders and some spring bulbs just coming into bloom. Its raw out there. My next door neighbour - from the adjoining house - came round today. She has been listening to me coughing for the last 6 weeks and was doing her good neighbour bit by checking I was OK and making me aware that if I need anything doing to let her know. How very kind of her but boy did it make me feel ancient! She also told me not to put myself at risk by going out and mixing with people.

LB that was thoughtful of your neighbour. I’ve been doing some physio exercises and pottering at home. My neighbour had taken my bin in for me. He was just receiving a food delivery as I was coming out to say hello. It sounds like you collected some goodies from the garden centre. There’s no need to feel ancient you have an active life, a quick brain and friends and family that value and love you including Lily.
Aah thank you Rosie. That is very sweet of you. Having had a long telephone conversation with handy brother, I have decided not to go down to visit rellies tomorrow. It would be lovely to have some gardening weather but my garden is still like a quagmire in places. I was really squelching through the mud whilst I carried out my inspection today

Tee hee LB - you poor old crock - at least your neighbour didn't ask if you were still able to attend Day Care for Bingo!😁 Kind of her to think about you though. Sounds like you made some nice purchases🙂
SM run was a bit sad. Loads of empty shelves - especially loo rolls (2 pacs left in W/rose), tinned veg, pasta, baked beans 🤔, my favourite tea bags and tinned soup. I bought what I needed but I did slip in an extra 4 pac of tomatoes and a tube of tomato puree.
The only things I've bought which I wouldn't normally are a 4 pint carton of long-life milk - just in case I'm poorly and can't get to the shops for milk for my tea - and a packet of strong flour so I can make some bread if I'm really stuck. If I haven't used it by summer I'll use it to make pizza bases instead.
Heads were whipping round in an accusatory fashion every time somebody coughed😁

Dry here so had 4 hours in the garden! Patio now tidied up and swept and pots moved around so spring flowers are on display. Gorgeous sunshine at one point lots of birds including a blackbird bathing in bird bath and a big buzzy bumble bee. Feeling much happier! Spring is definitely here. Going to put on an Asda order now hope it all comes!
Tee hee T'bird! I've applied for my zimmer frame driving licence! When I was in 'sco yesterday the ration notice at the tills was for toilet rolls; bleach; antibacterial hand wash; tinned vegetables; pasta; UHT milk and - of all things - children's medications. It was a good job I had no need for any of those items. I think when anything is limited like that it suddenly becomes very desirable. Madness!

The English are feeling the pinch in relation to the recent virus threatand have thereforeraised the threat level from "Miffed" to "Peeved". Soon, though, the level may be raised to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross".
The English have not been "A Bit Cross" since the blitz in 1940 when tea supplies nearly ran out.
The virus has been re-categorised from "Tiresome" to "A B***y Nuisance". The last time the Goverment issued a "B****y Nuisance" warning level was in 1588, when threatened by the Spanish Armada.
The Scots have raised their threat level from "P****d Off" to "Let's Get Th B*****d". They don't have any other threat levels. This is the reason they have been used on the front line of the British Army for 300 years.
The French Government announced yesterday that it has raised its threat level from "Run" to "Hide". The only two higher levels in France are " Collaborate" or "Surrender". The rise was prohibited by a recent fire that destroyed France's white flag factory, effectively paralysing the country's surrender capability.
Italy has raised its threat from "Shout Loudly and Excitedly" to "Elaborate Uniform Parades". Two more levels remain: "Ineffective Combat Operations" and "Change Sides".
The Germans have increased their alert state from "Disdainful Arrogance" to "Dress in Uniform and Sing Marching Songs". They also have two higher levels: "Invade a Neighbour" and "Lose".
Belgians on the other hand are all on holiday as usual. The only threat they are worried about is NATO pulling out of Brussels.
The Spanish are all excited to see their new submarines ready to deploy. These beautifully crafted subs have glass bottoms so the new Spanish Navy can see the Old Spanish Navy after the Armada.
Australia, meanwhile has raised its alert level from "No Worries" to "She'll be All Right Mate". Two more escalation levels remain: "Crikey, I Think We Need To Cancel The Barbie This Weekend" and "The Barbie Is Cancelled". So far, no situation has ever warranted use of the final escalation.
The Russians have said "Its Not Us".
