Evening everyone. Just got home after a pretty harrowing couple of days in Yorkshire. FIL is very poorly indeed. Wanted to stay but had to come home for workmen arriving first thing tomorrow. Think I may be going back again very soon.
Sister-in-law has just landed in Manchester (from Australia) so hopefully she’ll be able to see her dad tomorrow. Her arrival will add some interesting dynamics to the situation as she winds absolutely EVERYBODY (except her dad) right up. Arrangements for visiting FIL and looking after MIL have worked fairly well over the last couple of weeks but she’ll no doubt start shouting the odds about what should happen within 24 hrs. OH & his brother are already stressed - now they’re nearly ready to pop at the prospect of dealing with their sister. They seem to have reached some sort of agreement to just try and completely ignore her. Like that will work... Families!
Mother and father-in-law are a really lovely couple & the number of phone calls / texts / cards / emails etc they’ve received each and every day has been truly heartwarming.
Sorry this post is all me, me, me. Hope everyone’s ok - promise to read back tomorrow.

T'Bird, there is no need to apologise. I am very sorry to hear that your FIL is so fragile and I think it is a good idea that your OH and his brother stay as clear as possible from the stir up sister, for the sake of family peace at such a trying time. Debs, it sounds very much like trying times for your fiancé too. I hope that things are sorted out swiftly for you all. These legalities will all fall into place - within their own good time.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
The quiz was the usual good fun last night. We came 18th out of 33 teams but that result is slightly skewed as several teams had the same score, which adjusts the positions. We missed getting the second pay out by just 1 point. Bestie and I have decided that we need to do some serious music revision on our Thursday meetings - we are so rubbish at the music round. We tend to recognise the songs but can we remember the artists? Not on your life!

Good morning all, Topbird it sounds like a difficult situation for everyone, maybe SIL will have improved with time and / or can be avoided as much as possible, sorry to hear your FIL is so poorly and I do sympathise with you all, families can be impossible sometimes but perhaps the gravity of the situation will bring out the best in her.
Take care of your OH and yourself at this difficult time. Thinking of you.
Off to work in a bit on a cold clear day, it’s youngest daughter’s birthday today not seeing her we have a garden centre day planned for Saturday.
Morning Debs - it sounds like a lovely day planned for Saturday - I cannot think of a nicer venue. The medication gave me a slightly better night last night so fingers crossed I continue to get the sleep I need. It is most strange to have a persistent cough without actually feeling ill - just tired out through lack of sleep. This could leave me more susceptible to other infections I suppose, but I'll just have to keep using the spray. Thank you for asking Debs.

LB the cough this year is really lingering and seems to be particularly bad at night. Let’s hope we have some milder weather on the way to ease all the aches and pains and lift our spirits. We have a maintenance day at the allotments on Sunday I am planning to go for an hour or two weather permitting I am longing to get out and start gardening!
Morning - rubbish night’s sleep so just enjoying a much needed cuppa to wake me up before the workmen arrive. Again, sorry for the ‘Me’ post last night. Just needed somewhere to vent and this is a safe & friendly place to do it.
LB - I do sympathise about your cough. Mine seems to have just about gone (touch wood) but, bearing in mind it started back in September, it should have.... I recognised it as very similar to a virus I had about 5 years ago. That cough lasted for about 4 or 5 months as well - very draining. Hope the meds help to resolve it. If there’s no underlying condition you should find that once the coughing eases your airways get a chance to start to heal, which reduces the coughing etc etc
Debs - you’ve had a rough start to this year. Thoughts are with you & your fiance - hope your family issues get sorted too.
Best wishes to everyone else - thank you for your kind words and support.
Must get on. SYL.

Good morning to all. I'm free next 45 minutes. Here is very windy and I'll go to cottage this afternoon. It was snowing last night up there. I had a lot of work and worries last two days. My sister went back to Germany and she had a lot of problems with her car on the road. After couple of hours and euros, she arrived safely. My seeds potatoes are finally arrived. I was so happy.
