Its very sneaky of Mother Nature, letting us think that Ciara had moved on and then hitting us with the rain again. I notice that my very old obelisk has finally given in and collapsed. I will need to seek out another one as several Clematis and my Tropaeolum speciosum need something to scramble up. Hey ho, famous auction site and big south American river site need combing.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Afternoon everyone It's still absolutely pouring, hasn't stopped all day. And hurricane Ciara hasn't eased a bit. The wind is howling and the rain is hammering against the windows and doors. I don't think I've seen weather like this so bad for so long. It started late last night and hasn't stopped since, woke me a few times during the night.
The borders at the front are like huge long puddles, the back isn't quite so bad. Hazel, OH and poppets are well thank you, hope you and your family are too. Chive, the oak tree is established......was here long before the house. We back onto farm land and then woodland. It's been swaying all day, we're hoping only a few small bits are getting blown off 😕🤞 The trees beyond the field haven't stopped either Rosie 😨😨 doesn't sound good out there 😕😕
Evening. Sounds like you are all surviving storm Ciara. Glad none of us live in Pateley Bridge - sounds dire there. Mother and father in law are due to travel by coach from W Yorkshire down to the Isle of Wight tomorrow for a 5 day Warners break. Need to speak to them to see if it’s still happening - looks as though it could still be a bit blowey tomorrow.
Debs - your lazy day sounds perfect. Don’t know about you but I find it nearly impossible to do them at home - always odd little jobs that need doing. One of the reasons I relish a lazy day when we’re away. Hot tubs in the rain and snow - I love that! Have been known to sit in one with a bobble hat on (that was in Norway when it was -20 something. Most of me was lovely and warm but me ears were cold - bobble hat to the rescue!
We’ve been to the town spa today. A 20 minute walk there and back but worth it. About 12 different saunas, 6 different steam rooms and 3 bath / hot tub affairs. They all had the beds you lie on and the bubbles come through the bed and give a lovely gentle massage. All very relaxing.
Wow! that was a strong gust of wind! Has been picking up all day. Nothing like you’ve had in the UK but I think we’d better just check we’re not camped under any potentially dangerous branches. See you in a bit...
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
That is quite worrying when you think of the speed that trains go at Chive, although they have all been told that at the moment they musn't go any faster than 50mph and some drivers have been given chainsaws - just in case.

Good evening. I'm had a long warm shower and now I can relax before bedtime. It was lovely day on the coast but in the hills something different. Few days ago we had a strong wind which made a lot of damage. I came to cottage and find a fence on the ground and few old trees thrown on the road. Long story short, it was a busy day.
I'll pour a little bit of scotch in the glass and watch tv. Can't decide, Poirot or Seven years in Tibet.
Sorry to hear that you have a real bad weather. I hope so that you are all on the safe and warm.

The main road from Leeds to Otley is flooded near Lawnswood . Never known that to happen before .
