Hello everyone - en route to Hook of Holland. Just stopped for OH to visit a large sports store and to have a bite of lunch. It’s very windy here again. Not much fun for driving a large vehicle and the intermittent sleet and snow showers (interspersed with lovely sunshine & blue skies) make it more interesting.... OH is a sensible chap who will stop if it gets dangerous and, fortunately, we can take our time.

LB - what a shame about your Lakes trip - I know how much you usually look forward to it. Hope you manage to sort something out for next year. Any chance of your doing anything as part of a smaller group in the spring / summer?

Afties all. T'Bird and Chive, I'll miss the trip this time but I've France to look forward to later on in the year. T'Bird, I hope that you have a smooth crossing later on tonight. Any news of how you FIL is?
I waited for a natural break in the weather and went out to remove the trashed obelisk from the garden as it had collased onto my Magnolia stellata. I also filled the bird feeders in the back garden - they are smaller than those in the front that I filled yesterday and get emptied very quickly. That was enough for me as it was freezing out there. I've come up with a new weather description - snailing - i.e. a mix of snow and hail and not one of the biblical plagues.

My family word for snow and rain together is snaining . They often came up with alternative words  on an evening together . The funnier the better . No TVs in those days .

Made it to the Hook of Holland! Think we’ve had everything the weather could throw at us except fog and sheet ice. It’s blowing an absolute hooley here on the coast and the crossing is forecast to be rough 🤢 Usually very smooth - fingers crossed I can just get a shower, go to sleep and wake up an hour before landing. Fingers, toes, knees everything very firmly crossed.....

Thanks for your thoughts about the in-laws. FIL is ok and booked in to a local medical centre for a change of dressings tomorrow. MIL is OK but increasingly frazzled by looking after FIL. She’s also upset that she can’t find her iPhone which was a Christmas present (this Xmas) and she’s not sure whether she’s left it on the kitchen worktop or it’s dropped out of her bag during the journey.

We’ve arranged for BIL to call round their house tonight to see if the phone’s there. I think we’ve activated  Find My Phone on it but OH & MIL can’t remember her Apple log in to check where it is🙄

    They’re a bit of a worry....

LB - glad you can still get to France. Always rather envious of that holiday - sounds divine.

Chive - do you have any plans for next week or are you just catching up with yourself?

Just cooking dinner and making a flask of tea then we’ll see if we can on the boat early and get settled in the cabin.

LB I’m sorry to hear you’ll miss your Eskdale break but comfort matters and the new plans will involve you next time.  Chive you’ll be looking forward to your family break as you say with the generations which I like too.  Chive in this weather you can find bin bags blowing about.  I tend to grab them too. You’ll be glad to be home now.  I stayed in bed last night and after a while was able to sleep.  I’ve ordered some zinc, magnesium and b6 which overtime should help with sleep, joints, immune system and energy as well as a host of other benefits, fingers crossed.  Sometimes we need tweaking.

    Good evening to all.
I finished my dinner and now have time to relax a bit. Tomorrow will be easy day at school. I had my annual MOT (did I write it correctly). That took me a lot of time but everything passed well.
Luckily we have a nice weather here. I hope so that you are all ok and that you didn't had a lot of damage.

Good evening Ante. Apart from my ancient obelisk and a few little pots tipped over I seem to have escaped major damage. Was it your MOT or your car's MOT Ante? I only ask because sometimes as a joke, when we have to go and have a medical, we say we have had an MOT.

Hi LB. It was my car😂. We have a similar joke about medical.
I'm so glad that you had only minor damage. Pity for obelisk.
