Ah, Dove, my font of all knowledge, I have grown Broad Beans for the first time this year, keep hearing about "pinching the tops out", does that just mean the centre top leafy bit?

A big branch of my wisteria had blown down and away from the wall wires but fortunately doesn't seem to have snapped right at the base, although I can't see that very well as the irises are in the way. I've managed to hoist it back up and secured it with Soft-tie for now, fingers crossed. What's amazing is that none of the tall bearded irises in front of the wisteria have fallen over.

I received my '2 metres p****' T shirt today. Took out the labels, and laughed out loud at the washing instructions - they must know no one ever reads them  :D

A few months after Trump was elected, someone posted on Facebook the label of a garment they'd just bought.  It said:  "Made in USA.  Sorry our president is such an idiot."

When the first bean pods are swelling I take off the top leafy part, steam and serve with butter or parsley sauce. A real gourmet treat. 😋

@Dovefromabove Your idea of pinching the tops of young broad bean plants sounds so delicious.  I dive in and pick very young beans, toss them around (whole) in a pan with a few flakes of dried chilli.  Broad beans are finished here, but I have frozen a couple of packets for this winter - steamed and served with butter - what waist??  Oh, that top button!!
