We have several small oaks growing in the mixed hedging and tree band around our plot @Liriodendron and mature ones in nearby woods but no nuthatches or tree creepers.  Plenty of wee brown jobs and tits tho I haven't seen a chaffinch for months and only ever saw one goldfinch last spring.

    Which roses @Lizzie27 ?

While out weeding today spotted new fat red shoots round peonies at ground level. Was greedy last year and bought 15 on special offer - then had to dig out a new bed for them !

Unnamed ones @Obelixx, 5 on a special offer, all reputed to be English shrub roses, one each in red, pink, yellow, white and apricot. The apricot one was a stunner so I planted that one yesterday, near another pinky/creamy/apricot one (Penelope, a Pemberton musk). The red one turned out a very nice deep pink so is going by the front door in a bigger pot to contrast with our pale Bath stone. Not sure where the other two are going yet.

RTBC:  I don't live in Yakutsk.  An acquaintance of my hubby says it's minus 51.6 there at the moment...   :#
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Can I just say that I've been listening to Jon Sopel and Emily Matlis for about a year on their Americast podcast and I'll miss Donald Trump they've created such an amazing listen all about him it always sounds totally unreal then turns out to be real 😂. Clearly I think it's good riddance to bad rubbish

Tomorrow is Possum's birthday.  She was dreading a 2nd Trump inauguration.

Double fizz then for us tomorrow.
