My family in BC Canada have black bears in their garden gorging on the fruit. One was nesting at night between them and their car so when he was out in the day they blocked off the nest. So few people and cars around. I saw a news item of a kangaroo hopping along in the centre of Melborne.
It is turning into a weirder world every day isn't it @islandanchoress ? At least your family didn't try and deter the bear during the night wearing only their birthday suits!

No; 2 daughter came late last night after work, stopped to take picture of an almost full orange moon, it was actually lined up along the line of street lights, and until you "blew up" it looked like a street lamp. Spent a few hours on the beach and in the sea, with her, the old man and the grandkids, enoying a glass of vino.
Today I ate the single greengage which my tree has produced this year. It was a mouthful of paradise. My Denbigh plum, which is half its age, has produced about 16 fruits and today four were ripe. Quite good, a bit tart but not mouth-puckeringly so, and the flavour's a bit out of the ordinary. This week we had the first Victorias, damsons and flat peaches from the greengrocer.
Having worked for a street lighting contractor, this doesn't really surprise me. There was one jobsworth who would insist that the marking on the plan was correct and wouldn't pay a site visit to see for himself. Needless to say, the column would have to be moved, which isn't cheap. Had to smile at the phrase "No-one had a lightbulb moment" 😁
This morning I spent a happy half hour with a couple of kind forum members who drove all the way from their home in Cheshire to mine in Llandudno, to bring me some of their surplus self-sown hazel plants. With a side order of vinca, violets and a juvenile holly. We hadn't met before, only exchanged messages, but we "clicked" straight away and had a good long chat about all sorts of things. We're going to keep in touch so I can let them know how I get on with the hazels. Just going back out now to pot them up.
