I've never dared to try them. Did you do anything special to them? @Obelixx

@B3 I love the scent of freesias. Would be interested to have more details about growing them, @Obelixx .

bought bulbs form promesse des Fleurs the first spring we were here and planted them in troughs because there had been a drought since we arrived at the beginning of October that carried on until almost Xmas the following year.   I'm afraid they were a bit neglected but did produce foliage.   Last year ditto.

This year tho I have transferred some into the ground next to rosa Traviata and they seem to like the situation and the beefed up soil and all the rain we've had and I have a few lovely creamy flowers.   So pleased with them I bought a pack of bright fiery orange ones in Leclerc this morning.   I shall soak them in water for an hour and then plant them next to another rose.

@Papi Jo I grew freesias last year, in wide, shallow pots in my polytunnel and they did pretty well. I planted the bulbs in a fairly rich potting soil mixed with a little grit. I brought them outside to sit on the outdoor table when they started to flower, this photo was on 20th April. Probably entirely accidental that it worked but I was thrilled it did!

Bright fiery orange ones sound lovely, @Obelixx, I haven’t seen those here, do post some photos when they come out. Unlike PapiJ, I love anything orange!

I don't usually like orange either @Nollie but some dahlias I bought a year or two ago were mis-labelled and came up orange with streaks and I love them.

These freesias are supposed to be similarly rich in colour.  They were in Leclerc, half price.
