Thanks @Dovefromabove. Luckily Mr C is driving, and knows the centre of Southampton better than me (from his misspent yoof) so we might be able to avoid some of it 🤞🏻
I know eucalyptus regenerate after fire @Pat E but I do hope you don't lose that lovely view to fire and that you stay safe. Must be so stressful for you all. Fingers and toes crossed for rain.

I keep thinking of those poor souls cooped up in the isolation facility, do you think they'll be allowed out in the grounds for fresh air and exercise? 2 weeks are going to be so boring but better than the alternative I suppose.
Hope your journey thro Southampton goes smoothly @Chicky and your dad pleased to see you. I feel for you, having been through that experience myself.
@Pat E, our news seems to indicate that rain is forecast in the Canberra area so do hope you get some very soon.
@Punkdoc, sounds a lovely experience, glad you enjoyed it.
@Busy-Lizzie, hope you get better soon, tummy bugs are horrible.
I'm trying to decide what to do today, weather is very windy and not very inviting and I've still got the sniffles so don't think we ought to go out for lunch.
@Lizzie27 according to an interview I heard yesterday the 'isolatees' are allowed into the garden if they wear a mask and gloves. The chap said that they're being treated very well, have lots of things to do to pass the time and it seems that their emotional wellbeing has been thought of.
Glad you're on the mend @Busy-Lizzie ... do take it gently ... could it be food poisoning?
OH is at work so I've had a 'kitchen morning' .... I've made a batch of mushroom soup and a loaf of 'Gillian's Sticky Gingerbread' from the River Cottage baking book. is cooling on the rack. It's the first time I've used that recipe and I must say it smells very promising. The recipe says it's best kept for a couple of days before eating ... as if 🤣

Sorry you're still crook @Busy-Lizzie. have to say I can eat teh same thing as OH and get food poisoning while he doesn't even get a twinge - comes of being brought up by over hygienic trained nurses for parents.
Just when I thought all the galette du roi hoo-hah was over, my patch ladies remind me it's Chandeleur today so it's pancakes in all shapes and from from savoury galette to waffles so I've not to make a cake for tomorrow as Gaby will bring waffles made with her grandmother's recipe. Before retiring, she had a crèperie by the port at Les Sables d'Olonne.
Meanwhile, on FB's "proud of our local produce page" there's a recipe for galette with smoked or air dried duck and fine slices of parsnip fried till caramelised with garlic and parsley. I can get fat just thinking about that. Good job I don't like waffles, not even proper Brussels waffles with hot chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream.
