  • Hello @Dovefromabove and anyone else who's around  :)

Wet here now and very windy overnight.  But no snow, thankfully.

Waiting in for the plumber and electrician, supposed to be here this morning to connect up the heat pump and fire up the central heating.  But at least the insulators are here, preparing for the top coat of render...

It's dull, vaguely drismal and slightly windy here.  I have made the ganache topping for my chocolate banana loaf for patch this pm and done the 3rd and final coat pf varnish on the worktops.   More coffee needed then shower and lunch and off to patch.

Good luck with the workmen @Liriodendron.  I hope the end is in sight.

Hello you two ... are the others all having a long lie-in?

A paramedic arrived at the house opposite about half an hour ago, swiftly followed by a relative's car appearing outside. An ambulance arrived about ten minutes ago ...
They're a lovely couple in their 80s ... quite active really and pretty independent, but he's been getting a bit frailer of late. He had an op for bladder cancer a few years ago and also has an aneurysm that they can't do much about ... another set of neighbours keep a close eye and we help with bins as they have steps at the back, and she has our phone number and knows she can ring day or night ...

The ambulance has just gone and Mrs Neighbour and relative are following it ... hug

    Morning all.
I hope your neighbours are OK Dove.
Grey, cold and misty. Supposed to be sunny. Put the washing on thinking to hang it on the line.
Vet is coming again for Hannah horse this afternoon. I think she may have a wee infection.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • Morning @Busy-Lizzie :)
Not a chance of drying the washing outside here ... raindrops on the window panes.
Poor Hannah ... hope vet sorts it quickly.
Fingers are crossed for our neighbours, but when you're in your late eighties I suppose that at some time, something's gotta give ... as the song goes.   :/

  • Morning @Obelixx and @Busy-Lizzie.  Hope the vet can treat Hannah's problem quickly - I didn't realise horses could get wee infections... she has my sympathy...

The electrician came, and is now swearing gently at the distribution board in the kitchen.  We are hoping the plumbers can do something to quieten the waterfall sound produced by the new water tank they've installed in the loft - the old one was completely silent, so it was a bit alarming when we first heard it.  It's so loud we have to turn up the volume on the TV.

Thanks for encouragement, Obelixx.  We think the end is in sight... but will be happy to have next weekend off, visiting York again.  Hopefully Vera the cat will enjoy a peaceful long weekend without being shoved about from one room to another.

It's good that your elderly neighbours have attentive friends, Dove.  Fingers crossed indeed.
