I'm glad you're getting back to "normal" .

  • Good morning all ... she says tentatively ... 💨 the trees out there are waving about more wildly than with Ciara ... hope everyone’s ok (( hugs)) the weather forecast for some areas sounded really awful... a Red Warning for parts of S Wales!

    Morning all.
Thank you @Pat E and @Liriodendron about the jigsaws, I like to see the time others take and where I am with the scores but they don't show that if you change the number. I'm horribly competitive! When the weather is better, as it's starting to be, I'll go back to gardening. The days are longer when OH isn't here. Must have been awful for Pat when her OH was out firefighting. My OH will be driving from Kent to Norfolk today, hope he'll be OK.

Sounds a fun evening @Lizzie27, but I hope you weren't frozen and your evening dress survived.

Good morning.  It is mild, calm and fairly sunny here at the mo.  Supposed to get some increased wind speeds and rain later today and gusty by bedtime but nothing too alarming.  I do hope all Forkers are safe and dry and their gardens are OK too.

I'm glad things are improving for you @Pat E.   I expect many cars have been written off after that hail.  Expensive business.   We look after our cars and expect them to live long and happy lives so it was galling when our younger one was written off last September.   Funding a new car was not in our plans for another 5 years at least.

OH is playing golf later today.  It will be soggy so he's sat on the other sofa with a  doggy towel on the floor while he changes the studs on his golf shoes.  I had t insist he go and wash off the muddy residues first.  So much for 39 years of training!

I know what you mean about longer days but I quite enjoy OH away time @Busy-Lizzie .  It means I can get on with things where it's better he sees the results than the process and not have to stop for proper meal times or bedtimes.

  • The rain here has stopped and the trees are still ... there’s a rather eerie calm ... or am I just being over sensitive ...?

Morning. Hope everyone is ok in the storm. The wind has definitely dropped a bit now, but the rain continues. We have some flooding in the local area (unknown in my memory) but luckily I am high up and not near any rivers.

    Hi all

Glad things are a bit better @Pat E.
Needless to say the garden is under water, hadn't really cleared since last weekend. Luckily still some distance from the house, but I fear there will be severe losses in the garden, it has been a bog since October.
Many power cuts in Sheffield, but we are still ok.
    Stay safe everyone.

@Busy-Lizzie your Cedric is a very brave man to do that journey yesterday, 😱 even my fearless daughter didn’t drive up to Exeter as planned.  Several telegraph poles and trees down along the route.
Still raining here but the wind is not so bad as yesterday.

  • Quite a wild night here worse than last week I think. It was dry when we go up but rain returned by 11 am . I have to go to Allotments as they need to change the padlock on the main gate & they are issuing new keys today. I think it will be a quick in & out though no chance of doing anything useful.
