Hi! Thanks for
stopping back. How long have you been in your house for now? I'm sure
it's not looking crap. Feel free to message me with any questions,
although I'm sure you're knowledgable in the area, you are a member
on gardeners world forum after all :P
I've been in my house for five years now - also shared ownership. It's not quite crap I guess, though it's hard to imagine it looking that great in Winter! I have learned a lot probably in the last year, so hopefully it'll show this year! I look forward to seeing yours in the Summer.
22/3 Today I cut the grass for the first time this year and also
sprayed the lawn with 'green keepers secret'. It seemed to work great
last summer. I'll see if there is any noticeable difference in 1 to 2
weeks time. Once the weather warms up I'll rake some topsoil over
areas of the lawn and overseed the whole lawn.
I have started mulching the beds..I will finish this weekend, it should make the left hand side look a bit nicer (the soil ontop has started to dry out now since double digging)
In the middle of the
right hand side border I have planted some grasses (Acorus Ogon at
the back and Liriope muscari in the front). Tomorrow I am
getting a delivery of a Tetrapanax T-rex which i'll be planting in the
middle of these. I have already dug in lots of organic matter into
the bed ready to plant it. I don't want to disturb the roots of the
Tetrapanax once it is planted to try and avoid suckers popping up..
I have some canna rhizomes that i've planted in pots and are in my kitchen, I'm looking forward to planting these out at a later date. They are a mixed selection.
Hi @newprojectgarden - just come across this post. It looks amazing. Are those recent pics from yesterday?
Hi Ruthie, thanks. Yes they were and this photo was this evening. I had some mulch delivered while I was at work and it's due to rain tomorrow, so i thought I'd chuck some down as its harder to spread if its all wet..
@newprojectgarden wow your garden looks stunning! You have done a brilliant job. I'm going to show my husband your fence to try and persuade him to paint ours a similar colour... plants look so great up against it

Thanks, I'm really happy with the fence colour. I'm sure you can persuade him! It went on ok, didn't drip, it did take 2 coats for the colour to really come through. A 3rd coat would be even nicer, but I couldn't bring myself to do it, it took 4 days (and i wasn't going to buy more paint for a 3rd coat..I spent enough.!) Good luck!
This is my Tetrapanax papyrifer 'Rex' that I think I'll plant this weekend or next Still bringing it inside at night at the moment, as I don't want it to loose it's new leaves and there could be a cold spell on the horizon

Thanks for commenting, I'm glad I come across as organized!
