Whatever you have planned for the day I hope that it all runs smoothly. Feeding the cats and then off to see my Bestie later on. I am trying to get to grips with crochet but so far I've only managed to make a single chain. Will take my hooks and wool with me and keep practising. I'm tending to 'knit' and rather than pushing the hook under the wool I keep wanting to put the wool over the hool as if knitting. If anyone out there crochets please give a beginner some tips!

Good morning LB and all to follow, can’t help with crochet I am afraid never tried it but I expect someone knowledgable will be along soon to help. Good news about your catsitter.
Off to work soon then youngest daughter here for tea and I need an early night after all the weird dreams I have been having lately not restful at all. I always have vivid dreams but the last few nights have not been pleasant.
Just sorted recycling for collection it’s cold and windy out there. Hope everyone has a good day planned and stays warm.

Morning Debs and PF. Weird dreams? There are several theories - none proven - but they can lead to an interesting sleep. I hardly ever remember mine but on odd occasions I do and I get quite annoyed when I wake up before the end of a particularly fascinating dream.

Morning everyone . I dream a lot but they are so mixed up I can’t get a proper story out of them .
Another  crochet beginner . I am finding tension and consistency difficult. Time for a cuppa .

Morning Rubee. We'll swap tips then!
PF mine was €1,263, 623. I wish! Stay inside, the compost heap can wait another few days.
    I'm thinking of Runners too.

Morning all.  Another blustery night.  I woke at 3am after hearing a sort of muffled thud.  I got up and looked out all the windows but couldn't see anything.  Took me a while to get back to sleep.

LB, if you keep the thread/wool fairly tight in your left hand you might find it a bit easier to crochet.  It's easier to learn to ccrochet using crochet cotton which is firmer than wool.  At least when you make a mistake there's only one stitch to pick up!

    Afties.
Just back from the SM - wind's picking up again and, although the thermometer says MILD, it feels COLD. Still - not as bad as it's going to be in a few days in Garmische (that's where we're going in a couple of weeks). Overnight lows of -22C forecast for one night next week😱 - really hope it's not that cold when we're there. Hot water bottles are already packed just in case...

I can crochet but I can't really knit. I know how to but I'm told I'm really cack-handed and I get terrible wrist and shoulder ache after about half an hour. But I can sit and crochet all day. Used to do a lot in the early 70's when crocheted hats, shawls and other clothes were fashionable.

Had a go at macrame too - similar sort of thing really. Quite fancy learning to make lace (for no reason other than learning) - maybe I should look and see if there are some workshops locally. Almost certainly You Tube tutorials but learning with other people is more fun.

LB - hope you've had a good time with bestie.

Joyce - hope the thud you heard was nothing more sinister than a watering can or some such being blown against the wall🙂

Pansy - I don't understand why you think there's not much progress with the cats. OK they're not all snuggled up lovey-dovey but - think back to when Elsa wouldn't move from the bedroom and landing, when she was terrified to go downstairs, when she was terrified to go outside, when the 2 of them had instant barnies at first sight. At least now she comes downstairs, will sit outside (bet she'll love when we get some warm days) and LC and she can be in the same room for  short while - even if they do glare and swear. It's a lot of progress🙂 How's the Weightwatchers programme going (Elsa not you?🤭)

Well they both look like contented little cats Pansy🙂 Elsa looks very settled in that pic.

I've never understood how /why cats sleep in contorted positions like LC. Their spinal column & associated musculature is clearly very different from 'oomans.

Well done on the weight loss front. It's not easy with cats especially if they like being outside. I had one cat who was a bit of a porker. I didn't overfeed him but he always put on weight over the summer. Simple reason being that he was outside all day and would probably have a couple of takeaways every day. If those take aways are baby rabbits as opposed to ickle voles - that's a lot of extra calories.

Still, the vet was pretty philosophical about it - he was overweight rather than obese, he got a lot of exercise hunting - and chewing round the bones kept his teeth clean. Swings and roundabouts😁
