Morning everyone . Dull and overcast here . I am not a lover of haggis either ,anything with offal turns my stomach. Have a good day everyone .

Pansy - I was feeling a little nauseous this morning for some reason. Now I feel very 🤢indeed. 🤨

I quite like the savoury, stuffing-like taste of haggis but on the one occasion we had it both OH and I had slightly funny tummies afterwards. Same with faggots. Definitely not food poisoning or anything as serious as that but liver can sometimes have that effect on both of us so it's probably the same with most offal. We like chicken & lamb's liver but we eat them in moderation.

The Chinese year is definitely well named this time....

Wonder why Hazel decided to leave the forum? It's a shame that several of our members seem to have gone a bit quiet of late but sometimes life gets in the way doesn't it? Been thinking of Runners this morning - hope she's doing ok.

Off to look at doors in a minute - never ends when you're a house owner.

Ooops - manners - Good Morning everyone - another grey murky day here - it will be lovely to see either snow or sun or even rain. Anything but grey murk.

Yes indeed T'Bird - the year of the rat. Colours for this year apparently are blue and white. Two of my brothers as Evertonians will be happy about that even though Everton is not doing brilliantly this year.
Are they interior or exterior doors you are looking for? I know that you mentioned getting quotes for replacement windows so I guess it may be exterior doors you will be looking at.

I was very late on parade this morning but I enjoyed the rest I must admit.  Pansy I had haggis once and was not keen.  Ante I’m glad you enjoyed the handball.  I’ve not seen it played but sounds fun. LB I lovebirds too I love watching them.  Have you been on any trips with the RSPB?  Chive im staying in today as I have a few jobs to do, don’t tell the Col.  I hope you have a good day with time for a snuggle with Nel.  Pansy I hope your new Feliway will do the trick.  I have my fingers crossed for you hun.

Back from looking at doors. We even opened one or two and knocked a knocker...

Yes - it's external doors. All our doors, windows, soffits etc are timber and the front of the house needs repainting every other year because it takes such a hammering from the sun. Neither of us enjoys external painting and we're also thinking forward a couple of years to when we're less able to do ladders etc - so we're considering replacing them all with composite.

The 'usual' smooth white UPC would look totally wrong on this cottagey style property so we've been checking out wood grain finishes in Farrow and Ball type colours. Products have come an awfully long way in the last 10 - 20 years and some of them really do look remarkably like painted timber thank goodness. Think we should be able to get the style we're looking for.

My doors are composite doors T'Bird. My back door is a stable type door which is very useful in the summer to let the fresh air in. My niece has the very popular (on trend) grey windows and doors and I get very envious.
p.s. Chive. I'm doing my birdwatch tomorrow. I've come down with a bad cold so I'm not going to visit rellies tomorrow. As I will be confined to barracks I can get the survey done.
p.p.s. no sign of baby next door yet. I've a feeling neighbour may still be in hospital

Sorry to hear that you have a bad cold LB . Keep warm and drink plenty .We had trouble with softwood doors and windows . The rubbing down was a pain and as we got older painting the window panes got increasingly more torturous. Not to mention how quickly the wood rotted. We have composite doors and upc window frames . They don’t look as nice as the wood ,but I am so pleased that we don’t have to paint them .

Poor you LB I hope you have lots of hot drinks and food and sleep.  I hope you feel better soon.    I briefly went to sm to get some essentials and had a couple of jobs to do.  Alfie is asleep next to me.  Chive I’m glad your car boots sorted now.  Topbird I’m sure you’ll find it much easier with composite doors and that you’ll find something you like.   Takeaway tonight, no cooking.  LB maybe a curry would be good for you to clear your nose and throat.  I’m glad you don’t have to cross that road.  Wrap up warm and look after yourself.
