Well then. Eurostar is quick and quiet and clean but I'd advise taking a sandwich and drink as choice is limited and prices designed for a captive audience. I've done Brussels - Paris and Brussels - St Pancras and it's been fine. Brussels Amsterdam is good too. Done that by SNCB tho, not Eurostar.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

That's a good price, @Hostafan1. Much better than being cooped up in the car, too...
Went to the village shop for eggs this morning, but there were none... the egg lady, a mile up the road from us, has had a devastating visit from a pine marten. They are protected in Ireland as in England, and pretty rare, so... great from that point of view, but not good in your hen house. Apparently they kill for fun.
My problem is more mundane. A rat managed to remove the base of the squirrel-proof (and therefore rat-proof) fat cake feeder, and scarpered with the contents. The pole has been re-located, hopefully beyond rat-jumping distance from the hedge, and the base is now wired on. We shall see...
Hubby has damaged a ligament in his back, and is like a bear with a sore... back, I suppose...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Good to hear from you @Liriodendron Sometimes wildlife isn't cute and cuddly.
I'm in Norfolk, journey was fine, but it had been tipping with rain here, huge puddles. OH picked me up from Stansted. The cottage is lovely and warm and cosy.
Glad you’re here safe and sound @Busy-Lizzie ... how long are you here for?
i know he’s not around a lot at the moment to prescribe our medication, but I think @punkdoc would approve of me dosing my chesty cough with a large double Bowmore Single Malt ... it’s warming my chest up a treat 🥃 🙃

Glad you made it @Busy-Lizzie - I was reading the online news earlier which said there was chaos in France today because of the strikes and thought of you.
I'm just back from a very interesting talk/demo on flower arranging by a local florist who grows some of her own flowers and specialises in weddings/funerals. She did a hand-tied bouquet with foliage, pale pink tulips and exquisite double pale pink ranunculus and a wreath using the same stuff. She then showed us a tall wooden board to which rigid squared wire panels had been fixed and just slotted in foliage branches and dried material (it's coming back into fashion folks!) to make a free-standing tower - very impressive. I gulped a bit when she told us one of her brides had a budget of £4000 - just for the flowers!
Crikey, daughter 2's wedding cost about £3000 for the whole thing! Hired the village hall and friends and family did cooking and flowers. I bought her a gorgeous dress in the July sales in Bordeaux. It was great fun.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
@Busy-Lizzie the Bowmore was a very good idea indeed 😉. I’ve not coughed since I had it. I popped just a splash of hot water from the kettle into it ... that hit the spot 🥃 Time for bed now 🛌
Wonky’s wedding was to a similar budget ... she wore the dress of her dreams but she got it for a good price as she used to work in the business. Her friend who was a florist did her bouquet and flowers for her hair. She and the bridesmaids walked to the village church which was filled with flowers from guests’ gardens, the party afterwards was in the village hall ... a hog roast followed by ice creams in cones from a van parked outside. The music was from a Caribbean steel band and her sister in law who is a professional jazz and blues singer . A great time was had by all 🥂 That will be 8 years ago this homing summer ... Super Saturday in the middle of the London Olympics 🏅 🏅 🏅 I just can’t believe the money some folk spend on a wedding ... I don’t believe they could have half as good a time as we did 😀

Chilly , but the beauty warms the soul. Thinking of timing it to coincide with the arrival of our Grandson so we can visit him and his parents when we come back to London.

Isn't Amsterdam a bit chilly for you @Hostafan1?

Bowmore Single Malt sounds a very good idea.
