He is resident in England @Obelixx so he's not entitled to it in France. This is part of our problem, for various inheritance, tax reasons and family reasons he lives in England and I live in France. I'm trying to sell my house, as you know, and buy a smaller lock up and leave type of house so I can be with him in England for longer. But I also have to find a livery for my horse, shouldn't be that difficult, and a rescue home for the rescue horse I'm looking after. OH has a stepdaughter who he wants to leave some money to but France doesn't recognise stepdaughters as being family so she would have to pay 60% inheritance tax on it. My children and grandchildren all live in France.

Hello everyone.  Better weather here today - just a little intermittent rain, and hardly any wind.  I've been picking up twigs from the lawn.

Also been to the dentist... I love nuts but they play havoc with old fillings.  Bit numb still but I managed to drink a mug of tea just now without too many slurps...

Hubby is very gradually improving.  He's improvised a high seat using a board over the arms of his chair, with a pillow on top, and is less inclined to have back spasms, though he's still quite uncomfortable.  He's not the most patient "patient", but constant pain is very wearing so I don't really blame him for being ratty.

Just made a list of all my packets of seed, with a note of when to sow them and what conditions they'll need.  I have a plastic growhouse on order, which I'm hoping to attach to the shed so it doesn't blow away...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Good thinking Liriodendron. I forgot to check today that my polycarbonate cold frame was still intact, will have to do that tomorrow as I can't see it from the house anyway.
Commiserations to OH - back pain is the pits.

I'm re-reading Vita Sackville-West's Garden book, first published in 1968. In it she advocates three principles of gardening:-
    1. Be ruthless - never retain for a 2nd year that which displeased you in the 1st.
    2. Tolerate some untidiness and let flowers self-seed where they will.
    3. Have plans, an architectural one, a colour one and a seasonal plan.

Don't know whether I can live up to those ideals - how about you all?

Think I’ve got the hang of No. 2 😂

Jolly windy out there, and we’ve been watching the sardine fishermen in Cornwall. I’m ready to snuggle down under the duvet with my book and ignore the storm. 💨

Hope you’re all snug and cosy ... sweet dreams all 🛌 😴

Another follower of Rule 2 here!
I’ll be up the wooden hill too soon - I have some podcasts to catch up on: the new series of The Infinite Monkey Cage and new Stephen Fry series called Seven Deadly Sins.
    Night all.

Wild night here ......hard to sleep with that racket going on.  Don’t think we’ve had any major branches down, but not really light enough to see yet 🙄

Going garden visiting this afternoon, to an NGS garden with winter interest.  Hopefully it has not been blown away or submerged under flood water 💦.  The forecast is promising a dry afternoon, so 🤞🏻

But first, a gym class calls 🙆🏼‍♀️🙅🏼‍♀️🤸🏼‍♀️🧘🏼‍♀️

Good morning all 😊 ☕️ Hope no damage has been done @chicky
It seems it’s been quite windy here in Norfolk but I slept like a log. Much less coughing 👍
OH has an early start today so he’s gone already. I’d better get up ...

Lovely start at sunrise with glowing light to the east and a big rainbow over to the west because there are just enough drops of rain about.  Unfortunately the wisps of cloud are resolving into a more solid mass.

A winter garden visit sounds perfect @chicky.  We are heading one hour west to be treated to an assortment of "galette du roi" and drinks.  Think big round tart with a rich buttery puff pastry base, a thick layer of frangipane and then a lid of more rich buttery puff pastry.  Traditionally served on 12th night but here they seem to do it all thru January.

Lighter versions are now available with apple or blueberry filling.......

    Morning all.

It's been very windy in Norfolk from late afternoon, calmer now. I didn't sleep very well, had a hot flush and joints ache.

That sounds yummy @Obelixx, but when I bought one in the SM it was a bit short of "buttery" and "thick layer". Had a good one at grandson's nursery school a couple of years ago. Teacher made them with the children.

Boiler man is coming to service the heating so it's turned off.
