I always think it's reassuring to have control over one tiny bit of the world and make it a better place than when you started. Even if it is the world's premiere vine weevil sanctuary...

Sometimes a garden is the only thing we have control over, weather excepting of course.

My bird box camera arrived but not the extra cable required to hook it up to the computer. It's like that Xmas that mum forgot to buy AA batteries and we had to wait for the shops to open before any of the toys would work. Repressed first world childhood trauma. :#

No 'extras' seem to be provided with anything these days.  The last phone I got for the missus didn't even have a charger with it.  When I asked why I was told "Everybody has loads of chargers anyway".  I said "If every device was sold without a charger nobody would have any, so what would they do then".  Sadly that was received with a blank look.

There was supposed to be a move to making them all compatible so we don’t need a new one every time and then end up with a drawer full of wires. iPhones now seem to have interchangeable ‘connectors’  ... seems a step forward at least.

That's what I thought  but my old Samsung was compatible  with my kindle.  The new one is compatible with itself and has a very short lead so you have to put it in the floor  to charge it

The camera is all set up now and helpfully watching a rat trap set in my loft so I don't have to go up and check it every day. It's not Springwatch quality but good enough to keep an eye on how many chicks fledge this year. I just have to take a gamble on which box to fit it into now. I was worried about how to run the power cable until I remembered the BT engineer accidently drilled a hole through the wall right by the box. It should be the perfect size. :)

I've just come back from the doctors and, despite being dark out, the carpark was full of bird song. It sounded like 3 or 4 robins all competing to be the loudest. I probably looked like a right weirdo stood in the doctor's carpark in the rain smiling up at the dark trees.
