OH collected our new car yesterday.  The good news is that it does have a CD player so I don't need to transfer all my CDs to a stick.  The grump is that the CD player is cleverly located in the glove box so inaccessible whilst driving and I only use it on long drives on motorways to see or fetch Possum who lives 800kms away.

One of my previous cars had a 5 CD multi-player and I really miss that.  One CD playing over and over is no fun after a few hours driving.  My new car does have connection for MP3 player so I have that constantly plugged in now.  It's still a pain as it's obviously not easy swapping to totally different music.

I guess inaccessibility whilst driving is intentional, @Obelixx...

No idea.  Haven't even sat in it yet.  Haven't got an MP3 player.  Took me ages to switch from LPs to CDs.........

I'm such a grown up. The highlights of my day were a visit to the garden centre and getting a really good deal on washing powder. :#  I didn't even buy anything at the garden centre...

I have all my music 'ripped' and on a central server - so I bought an FM transmitter and put some random tracks on a USB for the car. That works well. My car is old - and although it has a CD player, the transmitter has USB, card and line in connection (some transmitters have Bluetooth as well) - so is quite versatile and can also then play music from a phone or whatever.

My daughter had a car, many years ago you put 5 cd’s on at a time and the thing was located in the boot, no chance of changing it whilst driving.  The controls all on the gear stick.

A 5 CD deck would get me to Belgium very happily @Lyn.   And back again.   With a normal CD player I'd just line up what I wanted to hear so it was easy to change them.   Why does technology have to make things more complicated?

    You need an MP3 player.
I have about 20000 songs on mine, enough to get me through most journeys.

Minidisc was the peak of in car entertainment. All the benefits of tapes and CDs without risk of scratching and much easier to store. MP3 is great in some respects but a nightmare to select specific songs or albums while driving. I do love it for audiobooks though. I guess voice activation is the way forward with that.
