Just went out for a quick walk with the family while it's dry. While my oldest boy was jumping about in puddles on the road a large dog came running out of the woods and down towards us. It seemed friendly enough but was obviously ignoring its owner shouting at it and had the kind of head collar on that you use if your dog is badly behaved. It then kept running around us and baiting our dog into fighting which isn't good when my wife had the dog on the lead and the baby in a carrier. The owner eventually turned up but couldn't catch her dog even though things were starting to get a bit aggressive between the two dogs. Luckily she got it back on the lead before anything bad happened but I can't believe how stupid some people can be with disobedient dogs. Hopefully she's learned to keep it on the lead in future
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
A dog wearing a muzzle or ‘halti’ type head collar should never be allowed off leash. If the dog is attacked, or if it should run off and get lost, it will be unable to protect itself from other dogs or feed and fend for itself in any way.
That’s totally irresponsible behaviour by that dog walker/owner. 😡

Did you hear Matt Hancock’s new Corona virus advice on the BBC this morning? It was ... If you’ve recently returned from northern Italy and have flu-like symptoms you should self-isolate ... whereas ... if you’ve recently returned from northern Italy and have no symptoms you should self-isolate.

Moving away from politics.... I bought some polythene to re-line of the "tanks" in the polytunnel where I grow water lilies: spread the liner out roughly into place, then dropped the staple gun and punctured it. GRRRRR
God hates the Canary Islands right now. Uncontrollable wildfires, massive sand storm and now they have the Coronavirus. When I went there back in 2013 it was a mess of abandoned building projects and closed businesses. It makes you wonder what the sustainability is of places like that if tourism takes a dive due to carbon taxes on flights and things like that.

Not just the Canaries. Tourism is the biggest industry in the world yet the " people shouldn't fly " brigade seems to care not one jot about the millions who'll be out of work and whole countries which might go bankrupt without tourists. I'm sure London and Florida and New York will survive, but does anyone really think Cambodia, or The Gambia or even Thailand will cope ? or do folk just not care?
