Looks like I'm not the only one who hates Chinese lanterns.

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

I also thought they were being banned because of the harm to livestock from the metal / bamboo frames.  If they aren't being banned, they should be.  If you set random fires in any other way I'm sure prosecution would follow.

Watching all the fireworks, even those over water generate a load of rubbish into the sea, isn't it time we had laser light shows instead?  No pollution for the air and the sea. Much more environmentally friendly. How many asthma attacks were triggered in London over New Year?

And no need to worry if the cameras have been set up downwind as many were in London.
I know they can't predict which way the wind will blow when it's initaly set up, but it was really annoying when they cut to the cameras in the path of the smoke so you couldn't see much. We gave up and switched to Jools Holland before they'd finished.

Apparently it attracts tourists.   Hate the things myself.   Waste of money, bad for the environment and terrifying for critters whether wild, domestic or in captivity in zoos.

The late, great Sir Terry Wogan and his silent firework displays. Every year, the oohs and aahs as people used their imaginations........

Just found a package in the greenhouse which was supposed to be a tracked package in time for Xmas. Not even a card throught the door to say it was there. Turned out to be panettone no.4! Diet may be postponed.

If it’s past its best @steephill, panettone and a smidgeon of something nice like Amaretto can be turned into a wonderful bread and butter pudding 😋

Have a look at the Singapore drones in the countdown to New Year to see what could be done

Compared to the fireworks I thought the drones were pretty lame, especially when viewed at normal speed and without the benefit of a zoom lens.
