That is sad news @Busy-Lizzie.Ā  Always a shock.

It has been miserable all day here starting with a heavy frost and fog and now a bit warmer but with cloudy stuff sat on top of the trees.Ā  None of the sun they promised.Ā  Ā I have stayed indoors apart from feeding the birds and fetching herbs for a cooking fest - batch of sort of bolognese to freeze for quick dinners, a batch of Rick Stein's meatballs from Tuesday's Secret France and leeks softening for a pot of Cullen Skink for lunches.Ā  All this effort on the premise that we'll be out in the garden this weekend and wanting "fast" food.

Now to have a shower and get ready for dance class later.

Hope your colds don't drag on @Dovefromabove and @punkdoc.Ā  In my experience they last as long as they will no matter what tyou do so just take whatever medicine helps to shield the symptoms and make it bearable.

    @Hostafan1 - I've always thought your acute pain problems were "galling".Ā Ā

Hi all, from the wet and windy north.
Not been here for a couple of days - pooter constantly updating itself and then 'undoing changes made to my computer'. Got very fed up with it and gave up. If I suddenly disappear again [quite possible] you'll know whyĀ  ;)
Haven't looked back very far either, so apologies. Hugs to those who need it, and sorry about your friend @Busy-Lizzie. It's always worse for people at this time of year.
Hope you can get your prob solved now too @Hostafan1. It's been ages.
I've also been having a small dispute with Sky. What is wrong with these companies that they can't sort a simple problem? Last straw today, being asked to repeat myself yet again, and the linkĀ  to follow their instructions to change/reset my password.
Oh how strange - I'm so thick, I never thought of that.... :/
But -Ā  I gave it yet another go, just in case a Christmas miracle had happened.
No prizes for guessing the outcome.
Julie [or is it the other one from Sunday or Monday? ] has been sent a suitably sarcastic email in response.Ā
    Sigh.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I can't remember an election where it was so hard to decide which of the two main party leaders was least fit to govern.

Thank you everyone for your sympathy.

At least Hannah horse has perked up and eaten her breakfast and dinner. She must have had a small infection somewhere.

@Obelixx we had the sun today. I've been blowing leaves with the leaf blower but it's made my back ache.

I wish everyone would decide that the two main leaders were unfit to govern and we could have a lady leader who, like me, doesn't want Brexit.

  • Hear! Hear! @Busy-Lizzie ... not that I’m being political, of course 🤐

Bless OH ... he’s been down to the shops and bought me some Jakeman’s menthol sweets ā€˜for throat & chest’ 🤧

    My view too, @Hostafan1.
What makes it worse for me, is that I have been a Labour supporter all my life, was a party member until recently, when I decided I just could not vote for Corbyn.
I was so proud at the last election, spending many hours campaigning to get the first ever Labour MP elected for my constituency, and now I shall be forced to vote tactically, to try and prevent Labour from getting back in. My father would turn in his grave.

Times change.Ā  Society changes.Ā  Parties change.Ā  Why should what your father - or anyone else - thinks or thought dictate how you should feel or vote?Ā  You're the one who has to live with the outcome.

Well said @Obelixx.Ā  According to the news it's chaos in France today re the general strike - is it going to affect you much do you think?

Hasn't affected me so far as I haven't been out. But my 2 daughters and DIL are teachers and they are on strike. Daughters had a restful day with their children and French DIL went Christmas shopping. Teachers will lose quite a bit with Macron's reforms. Son is at a business meeting in Hamburg and may not be able to fly home.
