Half of cider for me, if you don't mind Pdoc. I have decided that as I can't change things now there's no point worrying about them. I'll just have to hope I still have work next year, try not to spend any money in case I don't, keep my head down and get on as best I can.

I heard this week that my aunt has died. I didn't know her - only met her a couple of times in my life - so not a heavy blow to me personally. But she was the very last of my mother's generation on that side of the family (she was married to my Mum's brother), so a chapter has closed. Seems to chime with the times, some how.

I've written my Christmas cards this afternoon, using up all the odds and ends from packs bought in previous years, including the ones you look at think "well that's weird" (which is why they're left over). Just have to hope my friends and rellies are feeling cheerful enough to shrug and say "she always was a bit odd" and not it hold it against me. Parcels all posted, Christmas puds are made, order placed at the butchers - we're having a duck this year as there's just the two of us. All that's left is to make a cake, which I'll do next weekend. Busy week at work this week, but once I get past Wednesday I'll be on the downslope.

Hope everyone with aliments has a better week next week - good luck Hosta if you have to go in.

Wish me luck with the train timetable changes next week.....

Good evening allĀ  :) Thank you Obelixx, I'm going to have realist expectations about the new neighbours and enjoy the break in between! Sounds like you are decking the halls today, has anyone done a baubles thread this year?
I made a mantle spray arrangement with tiny white lights, fir of differing types, holly ivy and clusters of red berries for a customer of mine. We had a lovely time getting a little tree for outside her house and stringing lights around the entrance. I made her a wreath for her door yesterday and the mantle spray today as a surprise gift for her. I've been so amazed at her strength after loosing her husband a month ago, I thought it would be nice to put a little Christmas sparkle in her home as she had regretted not doing it herself. Back home now, jerk chicken rice and peas for dinner after a good soak in the bath. I hope everyone's having a nice relaxing eveningĀ  :)
  • Proud of you @WonkyWomble ... you certainly give your customers jolly good value for their money. Ā
I’ve not seen a Baubles thread this year ... you’d better do one ...

@raisingirl I’m cultivating an ā€˜eccentric aunt’ image ... that way I can get away with almost anything 😜

I spoke with a friend yesterday. Their 28 year old son died of cancer this summer, it would have been his birthday next week . He felt he had to apologise for NOT sending any cards this year.Ā
Despite what Andy Williams says, for them it'sĀ  NOT always " the most wonderful time of the year"Ā
Warmest wishes to those for whom christmas brings less than happy feelings.

  • Indeed @Hostafan1 ... son is taking a young friend to Heathrow this evening as his father died in the US last night.Ā
Also a dear friend of ours says her ill mother is not going to last many more days. šŸ˜žĀ
This will be a difficult time for them both.Ā

A lovely gesture from you @WonkyWomble.Ā
A sad Christmas is a horrible thing - sad and bad times seem to hurt more.Ā

I hope all are cosy this evening.Ā
