Yes - I've heard enough about that bloke's 'beliefs' to last me a lifetime...and then some  :/
Thanks for the pic @punkdoc. I've probably seen them but not been aware of the name.

I just remembered someone who was on the radio last week who worked for [presumably] John Lewis. He was on a 6 month paid break, and said all long term employees got it. He was about to move south, so I'm guessing that was the reason for the timing. Do you get the same perk @Hostafan1, or is it just the parent company?
technically , yes, but I have to stay another 19 years to get it. All partners are eligible after 25 years .

Och - you're but a child, so no probs doing another 19 years...  :D
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • I heard that @Fairygirl ... sounds a great scheme. 😊

Oh that's sad isn't it @Hostafan1. I knew about Jonathon Miller - last of those brilliant 'four' to go, but not Clive James. He was brilliant - so witty, and so accepting of his illness.
I was watching the Freddie tribute concert again the other night. Hard to believe it's 28 years ago he died. Tina Turner was 80 yesterday.
I suddenly feel rather old  :)

JM once described Opera Critics as  " A bunch of sad old opera queens" and a  critic friend replied in his article by saying " I found the comment rather offensive: I'm only 28 "

  • Just catching up with the news 😢
Typical of those two not to go until they’re sure of there being a decent cook in the fresh intake 😉

I was just reading the piece about CJ, and loved this :

He endured his ever-multiplying illnesses with patience and good humour, knowing until the last moment that he had experienced more than his fair share of this 'great, good world'.

Not a bad statement piece for your headstone  :)
