Just heard that my friend, who I've known since my primary school days, passed away peacefully last night. He had a stroke and severe brain bleed at the beginning of the month and had not been responsive since surgery. His quality of life wouldn’t have been good had he survived. He’d have hated it. He was irascible enough when he had gout. rolleyes His legacy is remarkable ... he’ll be sorely missed. :'(

Have managed to sleep away the afternoon and miss more rain here.Ā  Ā Popped in to a GC I don't like but which is near our usual SM this morning to look for more treated hyacinths and the place has now joined a chain.Ā  New layout and staff who smile and say hello and are helpful.Ā  Ā Found the hyacinths and some nectaroscordums I've been looking for and red cabbage plugs and 2 colourful ground cover sedums - one with bright coral colouring in its foliage and the other glaucous grey with burgundy.Ā  Ā Planning a tapestry effect.

They also had hydrangea paniculata shrubs trained as standards - quel horreur - and some perfumed daphnes at a mere 37€50 a pop.

Sorry about your friend @Dovefromabove.Ā  Ā

Sorry to hear about your friend @Dovefromabove. We went to one funeral last week in Kings Lynn as you know and sadly, I've now heard that my favourite aunt may not survive long. Life's a bit of a b....r sometimes.

On a more cheerful note, just had a lovely lunch with a dear friend at a local GC but resisted a lot of temptation plantwise (although not cake!) and just bought two variegated rushes to pep up a winter trough.

Hope your cold gets better soon @Obelixx and everyone else who is suffering.

Congrats @AuntyRach - I'm not quite sure what a BAFTA is but well deserved I expect.

    Evening.
Sad news Dove. Hugs to all those who have had bad news this week.

Horrible rain today - I had to pull over to a petrol station as my wipers were on full pelt and I still couldn’t see well. So glad I wasn’t on a motorway. People don’t slow down though do they? They think they’re invincible in their warm, comfy cars.Ā

It’s a soup kind of day today - bought a nice cheesy baton go with it.Ā

    Have a pleasant evening folks.Ā
