I meant to say, those 3 legged tables are perfect for uneven ground as a 3 legged table never wobbles.
Are you boasting again ?
I reckon you could level that wee slope quite easily though @Dordogne Damsel which would make it easier to keep the gravel on it. Skim off the turf on the left, and infill on the right. You can then do the proper prep needed. Or scrape it all back with a digger for prepping. I'm assuming you'd have a solid barrier of some kind between the main area and the bit on the far right beyond the bigger canopy? It's considerably lower.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Wow @Dordogne Damsel that party sounded like a lot of work, makes me grumbling about having a dozen of family round to Sunday lunch sound very curmudgeonly. Odd thing is though it must be something in the air at the moment as it was a "school day" today for most of them we thought same, Sunday lunch gone before tea time, no such luck they did not go till nearly 9pm. Too wet for any real gardening today so making soup from the lamb bones that were left from yesterday.
It's absolutely tipping with rain. Glad I mucked out the field shelter and fed my two old horses before it started.
Chicken Tandoori (marinating) and veg curry tonight, off to cook it. I hope OH is going to light the woodburner. Yesterday it was in the mid 20s in the shade, an hour ago today it was 13°.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Lovely torrential downpour at 2pm at Olonne today while at patchwork. When I got to mosaic class in La Roche at 6pm they were all exclaiming about a huge hailstone storm, flooding in the town centre and branches coming down and when I got home OH said he'd had thunder, lightning, hail, downpours, strong winds and power, internet and satellite cuts. I have happily stayed dry all day and been warm enough in a sleevelss cotton frock until dinner time. It's cool now tho.
Cooked a quick pasta for dinner and am now curled up on a sofa with a rug. May go to bed early cos shattered.
@Dordogne Damsel - I agree, keep it simple. Lavender will love it and attract bees. Ornamental grasses are not IMO very ornamental and no good for pollinators either.
Lovely foliage @Dovefromabove. I do miss that, and the blossom in spring. No blueberries here as it's too hot and dry but I can buy frozen wild blueberries here so there are compensations.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
I have 3 blueberries in Dordogne in pots which I water with water from the butt. This is the first year the leaves have burnt in the heat. They are in semi shade. They have loads of fruit but the blackbirds get most of it.
