    Hi all. I'm sitting in bed at a hotel in Kings Lynn. We've got until 10.30 a.m to have breakfast so there's no rush this morning. Then a friend's funeral, followed by a 5 hour journey home. Coming up was fine with no holdups so fingers crossed for a good repeat journey. Jolly glad we reached the hotel before the cloudburst at 5.30 ish though. Hope it's going to be dry today.

    I can thoroughly recommend retirement - the freedom to do what you like, when you like is a joy. I was one of the lucky ones though - I always enjoyed my jobs.

    @Fairygirl 😊

    Hope today goes ok @Lizzie27 and have a good journey home. That downpour was quite something wasn't it 🙄

    Morning all/afties Pat if you're around  :)
    Youre getting there @chicky ;)
    There was an item about that winning building yesterday, and although I missed part of it, one of the chaps involved wasn't too happy, because some residents now, of course, want to buy them, which defeats the purpose. There has to be a solution to this nonsense surrounding social housing - surely. Relatively inexpensive, suitable housing can be built, and we need homes for both tenants and those who wish to buy.
    Still a bit manky here weather wise, so I'm not sure how much I'll get done outside today. Ground's so wet, so I won't be doing anything major. Haven't checked my post since yesterday evening, so I hope there hasn't been too much water ingress.

    Hi all.
    Was taking bin up the drive early this morning when I almost bumped into a Badger, lovely.
    Has anyone seen @Lily Pilly. Until recently I was in regular PM contact with her, but she has not replied to my last message, hope she is alright.

    Morning all .
    I saw the winners on the news headlines last night @Dovefromabove and thought of you.
    I know folk laugh at me for my VHS, but I paid about £120 for it about 15 years ago and it hasn't cost me a penny since then. I laugh at folk who pay monthly fees to sky , virgin , bt et al and bang on about the how easy it is  to record stuff on  it.
    Torrential rain overnight and looks like we've got more to come this morning.
    Bake off and love in the countryside for us too last night.
    Devon.

    I still had a video recorder until fairly recently @Hostafan1, but I think it got chucked eventually after all the house moves. We still have a DVD player, although lots of TVs now have them built in. I never watch DVDs though.
    That's pretty horrific @Pat E. Is that worse than usual?

    The Right to Buy is indeed a very mixed blessing ... is there any hope that developers may see that there is a demand for Passivhous homes? @Pat E thanks for that link ... scary stuff. Not heard from @Lily Pilly @punkdoc ... hope she’s ok 🤗 I’ve got butternut squash in the oven roasting ... get that done before tennis then we can have a squash and sage risotto for supper 😋
