I’m heading south earlyish this morning to pop in on @WonkyWomble before she heads off to a customer. I’ve got some bits and pieces to give her ... some gardening mags and some finished knitting ... and I’m looking forward to a ☕️ in her garden. 😊
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Office today, so up nice and early. Talk last night was good - a “twenty something” describing how he has made horticulture a career ......bags of energy and enthusiasm 👍🏻
Made a trip to the GC yesterday to buy my bulbs ......crocus, iris, camassias, alliums and tulips. Will get planting soon (apart from the tulips, which will have to wait til the summer pots are over ......they are still going strong at the moment 😍)
Morning all/afties Pat. That lot'll keep you cosy once you get it in a fire Manky and dreich here, but it's supposed to be better later on. I'll try and get my camassias in then. Glad I got some plants in yesterday. I assume my Pam's have crossed with wild foxgloves @Yviestevie, or just reverted. I doubt many people nearby have got any cultivated foxgloves in their gardens, apart from the woman across the road from me, although I can't see her back garden, and there's none in the front. What bulbs did you buy @chicky? Not too much lounging and coffee drinking, Dove - there'll be jobs to do
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Good morning. Hi @Pat E. That looks like a lot of wood for your log burner but are they allowed to leave all that mess lying around? Bush fire prevention?
It's grey and looks drismal here but is not wet at all and we're set to be dry for the next 10 days with 29C expected on Monday. That'll please our Ozzie friends who arrive via Amsterdam and Nantes on Sunday.
The under gardener is out playing golf near Cholet today so I might just mosey on down to the PT and get the next batch of toms for processing. Remind me not to plant so many next year! All very well trying new varieties but we don't need 2 of each.
Then, while the toms bubble down to passata I shall probably do some sewing. Went to the bank yesterday with the treasurer and got the last hurdle of admin done so now we can play. She played me a recording of her conversation with the ex-treasurer who says she's got no accounting experience, never had the bank card and never ordered goodies for the club so the missing funds and fabrics and other are all down to the ex-president. As we thought. Don't really expect to get it back but we're going to prod some more on principle.
Meanwhile, one of the other exes has asked us to refund the 5€ she put in the kitty for the end-of-year present for the pres, sec and treas. Our AGM was very entertaining as our treasurer gave the first ever full accounting of our financial state and I explained all these shenanigans in broad terms and requested, on behalf of the new committee, that there be no more kitties.
@chicky sounds like a good talk. Your club does find some interesting speakers.
@Fairygirl I looked at bulbs the other day but France Rural only has about 20 on offer and they're all tulips, hyacinths and big daffs. Will have to venture further.

Was hoping to be back to normal today, but am still very swollen, so another lazy day.
Might be off to London for a few days next week. The DoH are doing a review of Intensive Care services in the UK and think I might have something to offer.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Hospital bombings @punkdoc? Saw that on the news channel this morning and thought of you as well as all those affected and yet abandoned by the international community. Trouble is, I don't see a way out other than starting WW3 which would be even worse.
I have been out and planted some more broccoli, cabbages and oak leaf lettuce plugs and set the sprinkler in the PT. More fat tomatoes coming plus some "ananas" which are amber yellow and sort of cylindrical. Looking forward to trying those.
Now to take Bonzo for his 5 minute constitutional and then get clean and do some sewing.
