Part of bedroom carpet soaking, water down wall and paper coming away from ceiling. Neighbour coming to have a look at roof from velux window in the attic......
Hello LB, Chive, Joyce and Pansy and all to follow. Joyce I hope your leak is sorted with little upheaval, bless you. Enjoy your rellies LB. Chive hope there's a little warmth for your wet things. Pansy you must be resting after your visitors departure. There's a cool breeze here and it has been raining. I forgot to set my alarm this morning so later on parade. Having a cup of tea and watching garden bargains.
Morning - dry and sunny but still very breezy here. Good drying day so Lily's TV is on. Don't like gardening in the wind so will do some unmentionables and then just nip out to cut the grass.
Poor you Joyce - what a horrid thing to wake up to. A little water goes an awfully long way. I do hope it's a simple problem to put right to prevent any more damage. Do you think it's rain getting in somewhere rather than a leaking pipe?
Still trying to sort out insurance / Euro breakdown cover so may look at that some more later this afternoon. Insurance must be the most booooring thing in the world to sort out.😴
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Roofing problem under the eaves. Neighbour has sat a large bucket under where the water is getting in and will check it out this afternoon. Evidently there was torrential rain overnight and his pond is overflowing. Will try to contact a roofer today or first thing in the morning.
@Hazel-1 re your iPad - a couple of things I'd suggest:
Under Settings go to 'Displays & Brightness' and make sure the 'Auto Lock' function is set to automatically turn the iPad off after 5 or 10 minutes. If it's been accidentally set to 'Never' this will drain the battery very quickly
Quickly double-click the home button to see which Apps are open. Swipe all the individual Apps upwards on this screen to close all of them. Some Apps such as Google maps eat through the battery if they are left open and running in the background. It's a good idea to close all Apps once a day.
Again, under Settings go to 'Privacy' and then 'Location Services'. The iPad uses battery telling Apps where you are. Either turn this function off completely (some Apps may then not work properly) or go through all the Apps listed that use your location and select how you want them to use it (most of mine are set so they just use my location when I'm actually using that particular App).
Did the iPad fully charge? One rather annoying (but good for security) feature introduced in one of the updates is that if you haven't used the iPad for an hour and then plug it in to charge up you have to wake it up properly to start recharging. If your iPad is PIN protected it stops tea-leaves being able to charge up the device while they work out your PIN. You can turn this setting off if it's too annoying.

What a PITA. Just a thought - does your insurance give you emergency cover? If it does they should be able to find somebody to come and sort things out for you.
