Hello folks, just read with back, (all 103 posts!). Been too busy trying to get my garden project finished, I'm getting a bit fed up with it now and it's raining again so can't do anything at the moment. Spent hours trying to screw my new potting table together on Saturday but some of the supplied bolts/nuts didn't fit together well. Eventually got it together with OH's help but not absolutely sure I like it. It's an aluminium one because it's got to stand out in the garden.
Update on little Sis, a bit worrying, she spent yet another night in A & E and has to go in for emergency brain scan this week (maybe epilepsy-related?). Not good news.
On a brighter note, it's just stopped raining and the sun's come out!
Glad you liked it doc. They were all good, the ones I heard. You can't help but smile at a good one liner. Or groan Quick visit for the physio. In, seen, signed off, sent packing. Back home by half nine. Happy days. @steephill, my youngest is about to sit her test again, and then we will have to do the same as chicky [Gawd help me] and she's the perfect candidate for a leccy car, but how does a young girl like her afford one if they're buying it by themselves? Difficult.

Hi gang. Cool with cloudy spells here so perfect planting weather for the rose with all the ants. I shall dunk it in a bucket of water while I dig the hole and excavate rocks.
@punkdoc I've long since stopped trying to understand people who think conflict of any sort that visits its consequences on kids is acceptable in any situation. I can undertsand your frustration but, given your current situation, maybe lobbying is a better way for you to help now and making sur eyour particular skills and knowledge get passed on.
@Dovefromabove glad you all had a good time. Piedmont peppers are a favourite of mine but not cheese with its own impulsion.
@Pat E hope you warm up soon. Done any colouring lately or have you been too busy with stuff.
Harry, our newer Zafira was bought new in 2013 because the old one, a 15 or 16 yr old Omega, was on his last legs and starting to have annoying and worrying electrical faults. Sally is an older model Zafira, probably about 12 yrs old now and still going strong. My mum used to save to buy a new car every 2 years but that just seems daft to us. Constant devaluation and too many car sales people. As long as it runs and can carry golf gear, plants and compost, shopping and dogs we'll run a car till it drops. Hate buying new ones. Car sales people are a "special" breed tho the last one was the exception and very good at listening. Woman, of course.

I can wait for the electric car market to mature before buying although I could in theory afford any of the current (!) crop, even a Tesla. However most are just too big for our needs or are on ridiculous waiting lists. Only rich kids are likely to be able to afford one new, whatever happened to those £50 bangers that never lasted past their next MOT?
We're hoping that in about 10yrs time they'll have reduced the cost, improved performance, have more "plug-ins" for recharging and also have some self drive fetaures. Most of our driving is in country lanes with very little traffic but we also like to be able to head off to busier parts for other activities and even take the odd holiday. We don't fly anywhere and like to take our dogs so that means they need to be reliabe and able to go further than they do now.

I've been gardening! Thought I'd have to wait for rains in September but then decided I needed a fix so did some naughty watering while the rest of France was at lunch so I could plant and lift and weed. Have now planted out a Traviata rose - lethal thorns - after leaving it sat in a bucket of water to rid it of ants. Then I went and rescued some Japanese anemones from a very dry bed under trees and have cleaned it all up and planted it around Benjamin Britten rose and Silver Moon clematis. Fingers crossed it takes.
Then a good forking over of the weedy soil under a lilac tree - bucketloads of couch grass roots. Amazing stuff. Lastly a huge sempervirens with an offset has gone in the bed round the well and, lo and behold, the autumn daffs are shooting up. Goody.
Need to go and get clean now then do some sewing while I decide whether or not to put some lovely blue agapanthus near a copper rose.
Just read back. Thanks @Fairygirl wrist problem seems to start at the base of my thumb & go from there, I have literally lost my grip at the moment maybe in both senses of the word !
We had a great family "do" at the weekend celebrating 16 years since the twin GD's were finally allowed home, over 2 months after they were born. Their Ma wanted to thank all the wider family for all the help given by everyone over all that time-a nice touch.
Thanks Obelixx. I think she's a bit nervous again. I should have said we'll only be car hunting if she passes Glad you got a bit of gardening done. It turned out quite nice here this afternoon after all the morning rain petered out. I got on with moving stuff and planting, and watching the young goldfinch stuffing his face. Very entertaining. I took pix but I haven't checked them yet. Is it perhaps a bit of nerve damage or something @Allotment Boy ? Hope you get it sorted though. Lovely family event for you When I went to the health centre this morning there was a few little kids heading to school for the first time. I couldn't help thinking of that wee soul in the pic that doc posted earlier. Watching the Scottish news just now, and there was an item on this fantastic family who's son had died of a brain tumour, and they've devoted themselves to helping others in a similar position, in the most superb way. http://www.calumscabin.com/what-we-do/calum-s-cabin-2.html
They've just bought a fourth flat. Makes you think again about your own blessings.

I am being fumed out of the living room. Possum is fed up of seeing OH running around with grubby looking hard skin on his heels form wearing sandals all summer. She's got him soaking his feet in a concoction of Listerine, white vinegar and water for an hour. It stinks. Better work.

Obelixx, I’ve let the colouring go a bit. I suspect I’m feeling a bit down and tired. I think it will pick up again when the weather warms up though.
Night all.

Good luck to Fairylet @Fairygirl.
