    @chicky - you haven' t seen how much tea I drink.... :D
    If we all build hedgehog houses, put up bird/bat boxes, and now slow worm homes - there'll be no room for us @steephill  ;)
    I just heard lovely Ken Bruce say that, if he was still alive, Phil Lynott would be 70 today.
    I suddenly feel very old....

    No slow worms spotted here @Fairygirl tho OH did find a pair of canoodling western whip snakes in our first year, getting amorous near a big, open compost heap we inherited.   Currently thinking about putting some owl boxes up but need to do a bit more research as they have plenty of woodland at the mo.

    Something has left a mess of pigeon feathers on our gravel at the back.  Hope it's a sparrowhawk or similar.

    Never seen a slow worm here @Obelixx, but considering the amount of 'new' wildlfie coming in to the garden, I live in hope  :)
    The garden we had round the corner was in a better position than this one, and more protected, but never saw them there either.
    Doubt we'd ever get owls nesting unfortunately. Too much woodland/old buildings nearby. We do see them now and again though. The wee bats were out last night though. It was a bit drier for them than the preceding nights.
    Think they were getting fed up taking their brollies with them...

    What?  No season ticket?  OH had a first class season ticket paid for by his employers - govt scheme to get people off the roads.  Mind you, they weren't anything like as expensive as UK rail tickets
    @Obelixx ......trains only work if you need to go to London.  You can forget trying to do cross country journeys here.  It would take me 2.5 hours and 3 or 4 changes to cover the 29 miles required 😱. That’d be 5 hours a day in a train.  Instead I make do with the company of John Humphries and Evan Davies 😉

    It costs more for two of us to drive to Cornwall and back than it does to go by train ... and that includes the cost of breaking the journey with a B&B ... insanity 🙄

    @Chicky - we were 5 miles from the town's station and had a bus stop with direct delivery as long as you only wanted to use one early morning and late afternoon - school and work runs.   The station is on the direct line from Brussels to Namur, Luxembourg and Strasbourg so lots of EU traffic and a fast train every 30 minutes.  50 minutes to do the 30 miles to Brussels with 4 stops.   Here we are 25 mins from the main station and that leads to Nantes, Paris and Belgium and, no doubt other places.  Cheaper than driving but you can't get a car load of luggage/shopping/dogs on a train or door to door delivery with pit stops or scenic routes at whim.

    I've been out and planted some hemerocallis which, I hope, will be the pale yellow scented kind as they're over on the yellow roses side of the border.   We have left a space for a 4.5 x 2.5 metre terrace for our morning coffee but I'm just wondering if grass may be an easier option?  We already have the slabs but they could go elsewhere.

    Hi folks,  I've just been and hauled the bins back in.  I have a few extra jobs to do while hubby is sunning himself in Turkey but that's far outweighed by the amount of cleaning I don't have to do.  Everytime I go into the kitchen I think I'm in someone elses house.
    Have been weeding and deadheading this morning.

    I think I've discovered a gardening chore which suits Hubby's OCD. Edging the new border!!
