Excellent Dove 😀 it has quite a few lower buds so hopefully you can encourage it into a nice shaped habit. My washing got rained on but it's nearly dry again now!! 😉

@chicky enjoy the day ... many happy returns to Mr Chicky (or is he Mr Cockerel 🐓 ?) 😉

The rose is Rosa Bonica ... I keep singing its praises on here ... it’s such a pretty rose and so very reliable ... flowers all summer, never gets fungal anythings and is so pretty in a jug on the table with something frothy and acid green like Lady’s Mantle. Wonky will tell you I planted one in the bed below her bedroom window when she was a teenager and it was a delight.

The later clones tend to flop a bit and therefore nowadays it seems to be described as a ‘ground cover rose’ but I think that’s doing it a disservice... it just needs a bit of support 😊

Afties -  [or is it evening ?] all. Didn't look in here this morning - I b*ggered off to do a hill  :D
I think I more than 'glowed' when out, although nothing like those temps last time fortunately. More normal, and a nice breeze now and again. Wore the big braces, so the knees held up fine. Back to the car and out onto the main road just in time for Johnnie Walker on the way home. Lovely jubbly.
Nice prezzie Dove. Good when the weans give you something half decent isn't it?  ;)
Hope Mr chicky has had a lovely day with lots of presents and cake, of course  :)

    Evening all!

It was "singing Sunday" in York today, so I'm now feeling rather tired - watching beautiful Clydesdale horses on Countryfile and drinking cups of tea.   :)

Yesterday was an interesting day.  We had a big family gathering in Sedbergh, Cumbria, where my parents had lived - consisting of my sister and me (their 2 children) with our spouses, and our 6 children (Mum and Dad's grandchildren), with their spouses, and the 6 great-grandchildren.  We had a joint picnic, some of us sitting on the benches dedicated to Mum & Dad which we've bought for the picnic site.  Then, while the adults who'd known Mum went up the valley and scattered her ashes around the trees, rocks and flowers of Settlebeck, up the lower slopes of Winder - a favourite walk for 40 years, where Dad's ashes were spread 20 years ago - the children and remaining adults played in the stream where their parents remembered having fun when they were little.  The weather was perfect too.   :)

That sounds perfect Liri. These events are very emotional, but very satisfying for everyone concerned. Glad you had lovely weather for it too  :)

Thanks, Fairy.  :)   It was a memorable day...
Sounds as if your walk was good.  Glad the knees held up!

I was tempted to carry on and do Ben More as well, but it means coming back over Stob Binnein with a lot of extra descent/re ascent,  so I thought I'd be sensible and keep the knees for some new hills  ;)

Sounds like  a lovely day Liri.  Haven't been to Cumbria for several years now but do love it.  Such huge variations in terrain and scenery.   My dad's ashes are scattered at one of his favourite beaches for walking his dogs.

Same for you FG - wise not to strain the knees but save them for another day.

Hope Mr Chicky has enjoyed his day.

Too hot here to plant new stuff as planned so I have contented myself with watering pots and recent plantings in a bid to prepare them for OH care in my absence.  Finally heading to Namur tomorrow.   Much cooler there...

    Good morning all  :) ☕️ ☕️
    G’day to @Pat E if you’re about 😊
sounds great @Fairygirl but glad you saved your knees for another day 😉 gently does it 👍
Sounds like a good day @Liriodendron 😊. Must try again to persuade bro that it’s time to scatter our Aged Ps ... he keeps putting it off ... they’re quite comfy in our spare room but they’d probably prefer somewhere with a better view 🌅
Overcast here this morning but it feels quite mild ... it’s July so I need to summer prune the gooseberries and the espaliered pear ... I also need to make a summer veg minestrone for lunch and wait in for the boiler engineer ......... and OH is at home ALL WEEK 😎

@Liriodendron sounds like a lovely way to remember them - really thoughtful.

Glad the knees held up @Fairygirl .....big braces are obviously the way forward 👍🏻

Mr C had a good birthday - we did another of his Hidden London walks - along the Thames in Hammersmith and Chiswick.  Ice cream featured 🍦.  Very warm here last night, even with the windows open 🥵
