Tory leadership campaign: what a bunch of snollygosters.
Not just them.  Can you tell me any current MP who doesn't fit the description?  They all just seem to be there for what they can get out of it.

I've said it before, and I'll happily say it again. There's not a single politician who deserves my respect, my trust , or my vote.
Apart from Mhairi Black who seems a wonderful human being.

I must admit that I was concerned about the shrewd bit.

The trouble is with w*****s: all politicians are, indeed, w*****s but not all w*****s are politicians - yet.
I will allow for the odd exception, such as Ms Black, whom I hope in the future will not achieve w******dom nor have it thrust upon her.

'probably alteration of snallygaster a mythical creature that preys on poultry and children'. That's a better word.  I'm going to try and use both. Cheered up now!

I would nominate Norman Lamb as one of those rare exceptions ... I believe he is a politician of rare integrity https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norman_Lamb

Checked out snallygaster. Preys on things around Washington DC. Sounds like a very close relation to the snollygoster.

I was sitting on the step admiring my garden when a fox emerged from behind a bush. We looked each other in the eye for a couple of seconds and he loped away, pausing only for a second to cock his leg on my marjoram -the fox equivalent of a two fingered salute. His contempt was noted.
When you pick your produce, don't assume that just because there is nothing crawling on it, it doesn't need washing😳

I wash everything @B3, daughter's dog, fox, cats, passing birds and the worst polluter of all - aircraft taking off from Heathrow. All produce washed thoroughly!

You had a lovely experience all the same, not sure about contempt but definitely 'don't imagine this is all yours!'  :)

If an animal marks their territory right in front of you. They're definitely sending a message. The foxes are getting much bolder. A few years ago they'd scarper if they saw a human. Now they just saunter past or carry on with their business.
