I think she made her case very well - she'd clearly thought about it carefully. While I don't agree with all the conclusions she came to, she had reasoned an argument and come to a view. She wasn't just jumping on a bandwagon for self publicity - she hardly needs it. IMO, you're falling into exactly the trap she described for herself.

No.  It was a rear view of a rather portly individual, dressed in lycra, leaning over a bike.  I removed it simply because the image didn't appear in my post.

Sorry but you have to be joking.  That woman would turn up for the opening of an envelope if she thought there was a photo opportunity.  She might have gained some credibility and respect if she simply send a video message saying she fully supported their action but wouldn't come because of the carbon footprint her travel would create.

But wasn't she just flying home from a holiday in Los Angeles where she had been celebrating her 60th birthday with her husband so she wouldn't have been staying out there anyway?

She's an actress who lives between her places of work - LA and UK - so travel is inevitable.  At least she offsets her air miles with tree planting but I doubt that's enough trees to render her account negative carbon.

Using her position as a celebrity to lecture others about stuff where she may be on dodgy ground is another matter.   I think she's quite a good actress.......
