I suppose she's as much and expert as Kate Middleton is a garden designer.

Feeling cynical about celebs and charityathons. It's the rich persuading the poor to give to the poorer.

But on the other hand, one of the big problems with tackling the actual issue is people spending lots of time picking holes in everyone else's arguments and not doing anywhere near enough themselves. It is very easy to criticise. But in truth none of us in the developed world is doing enough and I would bet you quite a lot of money that that goes for most of the climate protesters, not just the famous ones. Being less rich and not famous is not in itself environmentally responsible.

We all have to do more.

Is anybody actually persuaded to give to XYZ charity by some celeb / actor spouting faux sincerity from the TV?  Actors are doing their job - acting - pretending to be something that in all likelihood they are not.  I just switch to another channel the moment they appear.  The wonders of modern technology - the remote control. :D

enough folk flocked to XYZ charity after Kate's name was linked to it.

I don't think the charities would pay for the slebs if it didn't work. It gets them better press coverage, presumably. Although Comic Relief have said they are not going to send as many slebs to go and point at poor people in Africa in future. Seems to be annoying more people than it persuades now, so perhaps there is hope that the public will become a little more discerning

Your probably right in this age of celeb worship!  It actually has exactly the opposite effect on me.

I am being driven mad by the music being played as part of the Wimbledon coverage. Every time there's a break in play and Sue Barker (or whoever) does a voiceover with news of what's happening on the other courts, there's this blasted music playing in the background.
    It's really distracting. Grrr........

That's perfectly understandable @AnniD. Anyone it doesn't annoy needs their head read.

Now I am feeling totally curmudgeonly. My little box hedgette got blight so I cut it back to sticks with the intention of digging it out. I haven't got around to it and now it's sprouting healthy green leaves. It's obviously decided it wants to live.
The trouble is, I quite like it without the hedge. I'm in a quandary now. I don't think I can bring myself to kill the little b****r.
