Yes, thank you Dove. Good thing I had a good team of helpers but it's still a lot of work. It went very well although it was indoors because of the rain. I don't know how Dordogne Damsel copes with her tea room but maybe she doesn't have 44 people all at once. There are still three boxes of china (all donated through the years) to be packed and put in the cellar.
Maybe it's because I'm knackered that I felt sensitive about comments on the like icon thread and other threads, even by someone you and I met together.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Evening all. Strawberry Tea sounds delightful to attend (and exhausting to organise). I really enjoyed Brian and The Planets - totally fascinating about how Mars was once a warm and watery planet, when Earth was toxic and dry. Makes you feel special yet insignificant all at the same time. We have the BBC filming us in work again this Summer - cringe! Will (might!) let you know if I am going to be ‘on’ (Winter). Hope you all ok.
Well done BL. Well earned rest now! I belive DD has staff.
Not a strawberry tea here but we did go out for the day to have lunch (strawberry tart for pud) with friends who have a chalet on a camping site at La Tranche and just 100 metres or so from the beach so a good walk afterwards. Great views of the Ile de Ré and the bridge across to the mainland near La Rochelle. They have a 4yr old cocker spaniel who will be coming here for his hols in 10 days' time. That'll keep our pair busy! He knows about cats so they'll be OK.
As for Patch Wars @Dovefromabove, there's more bureaucracy here than in Belgium (who'd 'a' thought?) and we have to register the change of comittee with the sous-préfecture but can't without the club's official reference number which the outgoing president refuses to divulge. She's also hanging on to the keys to our meeting room and its stores as well as all the archives and we've heard talk about a hidden bank account with over 1000€ that has "gone missing". All this over a small club for 35 women in their 60's, 70's and 80's who like to natter as they patch, appliqué, sew, knit, crochet and embroider with kindred souls.
Clearly the outgoing dementor types have missed the point of the "kindred souls and camaraderie". Chappy at the "Vie Associative" is boggled and be-fuddled for himself and us and chappies at the sous-préfecture are in best paper pushing "job's worth" mode. Lovely. A visit is in order.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

It's mostly a case of the ex-president throwing her toys out of the pram and using bureaucracy to block because she had hoped, having failed with her committee, that the club would just die and she could start a new one. As it is, all except 4 of them couldn't wait for a fresh start with a new committee and we are all her "favourite" people.....
Chappy at the Vie Associative couldn't be more supportive. Chaps at the sous-préfecture have yet to meet us and have the opportunity to be helpful but I've done some sneaky googling and found the registration number I need on a government website and that will open their doors.

Rain overnight but now we have blue skies and sunshine.
