I see there are some "guidelines" on here saying this is a gardening site, but on forkers, we dont always talk about gardening.  This IS garden related!  Do we have any legal eagles on here, its a general enquiry, folks who have known me a few years on here will know, the bone of contention was the fence, technically the responsibility of neighbours, WE have ended up replacing, I kept the receipts for the bills, which are pretty high, Hubby thought I was being daft,I thought it was sensible.  Anyway, they have now had a "structure" built right up against it, and started nailing "stuff" on it, am thinking this will compremise the strengh of the fence, never mind that, I think they should have actually ASKED, as far as I am concerned, it is now OUR property, as we bought and paid for it, and erected it.it was in a really bad state, rotten, kept falling down on our plants, etc,

Sorry, can't help with UK fence law.   Over here there are clear rules about plants being at certain distances from shared boundaries - 60cm for a hedge and 2m for a tree -  and I'm sure there are strict rules on structures too.

No gardening here today apart from watering.   It's 38C in the shade out at the weather station and 42C on the front doorstep which has just come into full sun.  33C indoors even with shutters dwn and windows open for the breeze.

Dancing is gong to be fun tonight but first we have to take Bonzo to the vet.  He's limping but has no obvious injury in his paw.

    Stay cool everyone.

What a difference a day makes. Now we have blue skies and heat. I have managed to plant 5 dahlias in the front next door, and a few nicotiana. Good job they were all in pretty big pots. Two dahlias have buds, and all the nicotianas in flower. Apart from watering and tieing up, thats them done for the summer. The alliums I put in last autumn, I have lifted, they have made huge bulbs, some as big as my fist. Also I found a load of seedlings of the white Acnistus australis. First time this has ever thrown seedlings, apart from the one in the wrong place by the house wall. I may pot them up, so we can then remove the original.

Hope Bonzo is OK. Glad I'm not in the French heat at the moment.

Our friends have just gone. 1st OH's sister and brother in law are coming for 3 nights on Saturday. Bressingham here we come again! But it was looking lovely.

The Royal Norfolk Show is huge. Can't see it all in one day. We saw the Household Cavalry Musical Ride. Some of the horses were very excited and one soldier fell off. All added to the show! Then there was show jumping. We saw lots of sheep and my favourite one won when we saw some being judged. Saw amazing looking chickens, from tiny to huge, ditto for rabbits and guinea pigs. Took a buggy from the main ring to the horticulture section after lunch (huge pulled pork and bacon rolls) as OH and friend were flagging. There were show gardens outside and flower and veg displays in marquees. Stayed until 5pm then left and we hadn't even seen the cows and piggies.

Went to one of our favourite pubs for dinner. Today, after Bressingham, we had a late lunch in the garden.

Sounds like lots of fun @Busy-Lizzie.   Bonzo has no wounds or bone displacements so has either pulled a muscle in his upper leg or has arthritis.   14 days of anti-inflammatories, 10 days of complete rest so no walkies and if that doesn't work it's X-rays to check for arthritis.   This vet likes homeopathy and advises blackcurrant leaves and reine des prés which turns out to be filipendula.   He takes them himself as well as chondroitin and glucosamine.

@fidgetbones why are you planting your dahlias next door?  Had to look up your acnitus.  Lovely.

Obelixx . Because hubby bought next door. He had a house on the other side of Nottingham, but it got burgled twice. Someone from London knocked on the door and wanted to buy  it and offered OTT money so he took it, fate was next door was up for sale at the same time.  I get a double size garden. He got a man cave.  We have two houses next door to each other. We did let out the house  twice, both to single girls, but it was more trouble than its worth. Now it gets used for storage and all his tools. The garage is in a state of disrepair, so he uses the conservatory as a workshop.  That side has the two mature oak trees in the garden.

Evening all. Hope you've all been behaving and enjoying sun if you've had it  :)
Came back today - knees were giving me gyp, so I decided to leave the 2nd hill for another time. May have to go back to the old knee braces instead of the little ones I switched to.
Great run up, just under four hours, and a grand day out. Got burnt arms into the bargain  :D
I think my lunchtime view was probably one of the best I've ever had

Now I'll read back on here and see what's been happening.

    Amazing view, Fairygirl.

There are some lovely photos on this thread, I've just added Peter Beales Roses. https://forum.gardenersworld.com/discussion/1024234/garden-visits-2019#latest

    Beautiful view Fairygirl.

I'm a bit sad just now. Our colony of bees with white bums was suddenly invaded after lunch by a swarm of flying ants plus ordinary black ants - hundreds of them. I rather suspect they've killed all the bees inside, one or two bees bumbled in and didn't come out again. Others tried entry and made a very swift exit. I've never heard of this before.
