    @Singing

I waited and waited and nothing happened!

Don’t you get a little drop down box of choices after you’ve typed the @ and the first four letters of the name. @Busy-Lizzie ?

    No, I don't.

@Busy-Lizzie Did you get it at any time before? Or on other devices?

what I can't understand is why people who don't like it don't just leave and nobody ever explains that. I belong to other groups, mostly Facebook gardening and wildlife group. If I don't like them I leave. I don't make a fuss or try and change the group, I just go. I have no wish to influence how a group is run, I choose those that I like.

I like this forum and have been on it for several years, I only suggested something that I (and some others) would like. I hope you aren't suggesting that I leave because I wanted to add something.

No @pitter-patter, not ever, not even on OH's iPad.

punkdoc mentioned the trials of this forum. I was invited by the tech team to join the trials. At that time my Internet was even worse than it is now so I couldn't trial everything but I could see the photos. But when the new forum finally appeared I couldn't see any photos for some time. My Internet connection has been updated so I can see most of them now, but it's still slow. I really enjoyed the old forum, didn't have slow Internet problems with it.

Somewhat infrequent poster here .... I don't miss the like button, in fact I like its absence. There are plenty of nice 'thank you's going around. And some 'snap!'s!

I do miss the green emoji, though. It was so expressive 😉

That would be Wikipedia. But why discredit any threads that you are not a part of? Seriously, It just seems strange that you have gone out of your way to prove that nobody looks at popular threads where you don't comment. GW is not about you @Dovefromabove although I enjoy your input sometimes.

    What??? Where’ve I done that???

All ive said is that sometimes we get folk saying something along the lines of ‘ive had loads of views but no ones answered my question’ .... I wasn’t talking about ‘popular’ threads ... I never notice the number of views on a thread unless someone draws my attention to it ...

Of course GW is not all about me ... whoever said it was  ... what’s that meant to mean?

Well as people are voicing their opinions I'll add mine.
I don't use any social media, I prefer reality not how things appear.

Don't get me wrong, everyone is welcome to do as they please, I'll carry on doing things my way and if I like something in actuality, I will let that person know with words and expressions I have chosen myself to represent my response.

I'd always enjoyed this forum for being individual and put it down to the creativity of gardeners that we could use our own methods and didn't need these little competitive counters such as "likes"
But I fear its getting nasty on this thread already, snipping remarks made at people...one of the many reasons I don't use social media, I hope I won't get any nasty remarks for disagreeing with someone, ...Think I'm going to leave the online world alone for a while and get in the garden!

@WonkyWomble, things always get nasty in threads like this. I believe it's how some people like it.
Social media is not all the same, I belong to several gardening and wildlife groups on Facebook (though I don't do personal Facebook). Some are moderated very well and a thread like this would be deleted along with the argumentative members of the group :)
Argument has no place in a gardening forum
