Bio , Hello , I trust you are both well
    Thanks for update
O/H makes marmalade from Saville oranges but they are very difficult to get around hear , I hope it goes well , particularly the amount . O/H did a mixed marmalade of oranges , lemons and limes after Christmas and chopped up the skin as well , tastes ok but a bit chunky !
The weather hear hasn’t been to bad so far , some nice sunny but cold days , have been sorting out garden , intend to start this weekend on allotment
    Glad cats & dog ok
    Happy gardening 😉

Boots the Bengal woken from Winter slumber and bought home 2 baby rabbits and rat yesterday -So glad we do not have a Cat Flap!!! All half eaten. Let him indoors and promptly violently sick all over dining room floor (Lucky we do not have carpets in France!!) - Apart from the garden sodden again today and it was drying out so well! Have made plans for lengthening borders so O/H will not have to mow around Island beds -will only have to do straight lines! Plenty of plants to split and move on to new positions so no investment (Well unless as ever I am tempted!!) - Sent off veg seed and onion set order to Gardening Club today. Seems like a good idea batch ordering together. Some seeds only 60p packet!! GWRS do you have Allotment Club buying facility -Does it work for you?
Back to Marmelade making and carrot Cakes for Farmers Market Saturday. Supposed to be milder and dry, so hope all worth the effort!

Hello , one of my Aunties had a cat that was very good at catching Moles , unfortunately use to bring them into house and not always dead 💀. I bet you’ve pleased not to have carpets 🐈
Started at allotment today , we get horse manure delivered free and you just help yourself , put some around Rhubard , edging of Aspargus and 3 small raised beds plus a few more jobs
We use to get seeds etc from a company called Kings and a discount unfortunately the Allotment ass decided to stop doing it , so I now get seeds from Wilkos ( if you have heard of them ) and Aldi , I do like there seed tapes
Such strange weather at the moment
I trust the Cake baking is going well 🥕🍰

Yes Wilko is excellent also for Bird Feed. Weather prediction for February primarily cold with strong winds 6-8th and 9-17th cold but sunny days with 20-22nd very variable from region to region although the majority Spring like. Warming up towards the end of the month which can only be good news. Went to Fete de Chandeleurs over the w/e as a visitor for a change. This is the first Fair of the season and Tree and Shrub Nurseries sell all their plants in bulk (Minimum 6 Fruit Trees or 25 Hedging Shrubs) at really competetive prices. I Paid the equivalent of £1.25 x25 for some laurel hedging which was already 1metre high to block off a corner of the garden and create wind break. Same rule as with Broad Beans trim tops and roots before planting to encourage thickening up and spurt into growth. Lovely strong plants. The Fruit Trees were 3-5yrs old already, but you would have to be built like Superman to move them -The roots were enormous!. The Chandeleur is also celebrated for Food competitions in Normandy primarily Tripe/Pigs Trotters and Crepes (Not necessarily in that order!) The best butcher/chef receives a very grand Certificate and a medal. Stands from Guernsey/Alsace/Sturminster Newton/Germany and Bavaria were also there selling their speciality foods like Guernsey Gache/Saurkraut/Blue Vinny Cheese/and of course Beers. Not bad for a Village Fair. Do you have the Chandeleurs in the Vendée Obelxx? So to the next Few days her is the Lunar Calender:-
6/7th Feb - Moon ascending in Gemini so Flower Days but no gardening before 2.05pm on 6th as Noeud ascending and Moon on cusp of ascending and descending. Under heat prick out cauliflowers sown 1st January. Plant Anemones and Renunculus and take cuttings from chrysanthemums/fuchias and pelargoniums. Start off Cannas and tuberous Begonias.
8th Feb - Moon descending in Cancer so Leaf Day. If no frost plant new bare root hedges. Cut Hazel for bean and pea sticks.
9/10th Feb - Full Moon 7.33am on 9th. Fruit Days.If it's not too frosty prune fanned Fruit Trees and gooseberries (remove trimmings from area of gooseberries to avoid sawfly)Take cuttings from Red and Black Currants, heeling them into new bed or in sheltered corner for future planting if you haven't made new fruit bed yet. On 10th No gardening recommended after 3.20pm as Moon perigee.
    Happy Gardening everyone!

Did you see that amazing HUGE RED/ORANGE moon yesterday morning?? (Thursday)Ok it was 4.30am UK time and we were of to Farmers' Market. A Moon of this description at this time of year denotes hard frosts and stormy conditions especially if associated with a Spring Tide -Ans what do they say is coming on Sunday?!!! -We shall be tying down the polytunnel with extra rope and bracing ourselves. Now have 40 sprouted Broad Beans in Polystyrene tubs in there -so don't want them to get blown away!!! Have done some more weeding plus O/H mowed lawn whilst dry this am. Garden beginning to take shape for year ahead. Must get new wheelbarrow. Current one is showing its age (40yrs!) getting very crotchety about carrying heavy weights.
    Happy Gardening!

No but I was up in the middle of last night and the moon was incredibly bright given it's not yet full.

Haven't done any gardening apart from squidging in the garlic last week.  The soil is just too wet for planting or weeding.   I've had to put some Savoy and kale plugs into small pots in the PT to avoid their being checked.

I have 7 row of 6 or 7 broad beans doing very well in a bed outside from a direct autumn sowing.   One or two failed but still a good result.  Keeping an eye out now for black fly.

Next week looks very wet here apart from Sunday but that's OK as I have something on every day next week so no gardening planned but after that I'll be getting very twitchy.  OH has bought a new mower but that won't see any use yet a while either.

Saw a very full looking moon rising over low dark cloud to the east.   Just before sunset so looking very pale then.  Much brighter at bedtime as we still had clear skies then.  Not today tho.
