Wet here too @biofreak but I did manage to get my new supply of shallots planted yesterday.

I have a small pack of Désirée chitting on a windowsill and another of Dolreine.  I haven't seen a Désirée in any French shops and have no idea what the others will be like but OH is keen to have a go.

Busy with patchwork homework at the mo and making a new spring coat so not too worried about being rained off but I do need to start thinking about some rose and clematis pruning and some edible seed sowing.

Hello was going to allotment this morning but raining , cleared up , so some jobs in garden and greenhouse
Cut more wood for fire that I put in greenhouse to dry
Potatoes chitting nicely , particularly the First Earlies , Aron Pilot , not grown these before , hopefully get them in by  end of month , obviously different varieties to those in France
Did manage to cut lawns in the week , days are fine but heavy rain ☔️ of a night

Very wet here too.  I  will be be growing Foremost, Charlotte,  Cara  and a few Sarpo mira. The two late varieties are blight resistant,  sadly that feature seems essential these days,  even though there are more flavourful varieties I would like to grow.

No. I haven't seen Désirée here either although we do have most of the others including Violette (Blue ones!) Look and don't taste much good! I normally wait to pop them in at Easter. But very early this year, so may wait à little longer.
Wet again here..so glad I mowed the lawn last week. Cats on high alert
. 2 new Tomcats on the block...what à racket last night...shudder to think what the swear words were!!!

    Hi Everyone
Hard frost yesterday morning but nice Spring like weather, despite storms Saturday.
The  predicted weather for March is still variable although up to the 9th it will be milder but alternating sun and rain the same day, so boots and Waterproofs at the ready!
10-13th March the Lunar Weather shows warm and sunny days.
    14-15th back to rain
16-19th Damp and miserable with showers always present
20-25th March warm again but storms predicted.
    26-29th Wetter and colder.
    30th March an improvement promised.
Well none of this bodes well for gardening. I think I shall just sit tight and make as much use of the Polytunnel as possible.
The Lunar Gardening Calendar is trying to persuade us to sow Aubergine 🍆 🌶️ Chilli/.Cucumbers and Peppers plus 🍅 Tomatoes from 4th-6th. Really not sure about this. What are you doing?
7/8th March are Root Days with Moon in front of Capricorn ♑ No gardening recommended after 1.45pm on 7th as Moon perigee. No gardening recommended after 8.10am on the 8th as Noeud ascending. In between times sow Celery and Fennel (bulbing) under cover and Leeks where you wish them to crop.
9-10th are Fruit Days. In mild areas sow Melon 🍈 and 🥒 Cucumber seeds under heat. You can also start off French Beans.
Good luck! Think I'm still holding back.
    Happy Gardening!

It was fine and sunny yesterday @biofreak but with a perishing wind so OH went out and trimmed 25m of mixed hedge with shears, secateurs and loppers and I went back to the sewing room.  It's set to be very wet all week now and with high winds.

Those potatoes I have chitting are taking their own sweet time about growing shoots so I'm in no hurry to sow toms and chillies yet.  It's set to be cold and wet all week so I shall happily carry on sewing - patchwork homework for a workshop I'm running in April - and then go and clear out the polytunnel beds ready for putting down manure and mulch for the next lot of tomatoes and chillies which I'll sow on the next set of fruity days.

There's also a shed I want to clear out so we can park OH's mowers and rotavator in better shelter.  He keeps the latter in my polytunnel and it's a PITA.

Pouring with rain again this morning at Market. Client offered to take Belabella the greyhound for a walk, but she refused point blank to leave the comfort of the van!!! Uni the Whippet in deep disgrace, has just dug up my biggest bestest Dahlia!! I shall have to start fencng off the potager quicker than I thought.
Lots of garden goodies advertised in Circulars, can't buy anything yet as weather too awful. One good thing though..with all this rain nearly every cutting pushed into ground when I pruned shrubbery  to form new hedge has taken!! They say water well, and the sky did a good job! Gravel Garden looking good too. Must buy 2 more dustbins for Grey water. Our Water Table has risen so high that  washing machine water will not drain away but backs up. I get 3 buckets if I hand wash then just use the Spin programme and 5 if I syphon off machine from full wash. Definately worth saving.
Gave Denis my neighbour a bottle of Whisky for servicing my lawnmower..one very happy man..Hé keeps his garden machinery in the polytunnel...so the French take over too!!! Drives his wife Odile mad, she wants to start her Géraniums off. Oh men and their toys!!

Hello , February weather finished well and March has started even better  in this part of Lincolnshire
Garden Friday & today and Sunday & Monday at allotment

O/H dug up the rest of the leeks , which where fine , just not very big , also picked the last of the cabbages 3 very small ones

Had to take cover  off Broad Beans as getting to big but did cover with fleece as we have been getting slight frosts

Have been repairing fences , must take a picture of my new post system , lost of interest / amusement! Going again tomorrow to allotment

The soil is still far too wet to do anything substantive here.  I  have Broad beans  and some early peas,  in root trainers,  haven't dared put them in the ground yet.
