Last weekend a disaster!! Booked little gite for Friday supposedly with view of the Seine (no) Found dowdy dwelling next to shop in centre of town. Shopkeeper helped me to get access with code and found myself in pretend courtyard which was shop floor lined with that awful pretend grass with 4 patio tables and full ashtrays. Felt like Alice in Wonderland as 4 doors labelled Maison 1/2/3/4. Opened the door to Maison 1 and found myself in small very smelly lobby with staircase up to first floor. Got upstairs and it did open out into nice kitchen and lounge, opened door to what I thought was bedroom and met second staircase steeper than the first. Left my things in lounge and went up to second floor and found nice bedroom.shower room and separate toilet. Turned round to go downstairs, got to sharp corner, turned, put my foot out and fell down the rest!!! Ended up flat on my back with noone to call out to and in sodden heap. Thank God I had not broken my leg but twisted ankle and tore calf muscle. (Confirmed yesterday in hospital) Stayed night on couch fully dressed. Took handful of painkillers ( as they do in the Movies) and slid down stairs on my bottom having flung cases in front of me and hobbled to van 6.30am Saturday. There was no way I could do Garden Fair so popped into Chateau which was luckily 6kms down the road (beautiful looked like Versailles) on route home and cancelled Stand 14 which looked ideal as in shade. Sickening! Phoned friends and they came and met me at Le Havre and took over driving. So there we are. Pride comes before a Fall could not have been more apt, as I had been doing so well to date. Anyway. French Beans are up planted on top of Asparagus in Raised Bed. Biodynamic friend always sows beans on top of Asparagus when the latter have finished cropping, and leaves bean roots in place to supply nitrogen to Asparagus next season. Thought I'd give it a go. 🍅 Tomatoes Château de Chartres have sprouted, and Supermarket Melon grown from seed thriving. Need to pot on Cucumbers 🥒 ..think I shall put them outside this year, and see how they get on. Broad Beans have reached polytunnel roof and cropping really well (Aquadulce Claudia) Mangetout Hérault flowering. So garden fine even if gardener not!!! 6th June Fruit Day. Pinch out 🍅 Tomato side shoots and tops. Sow some more Cucumbers for quick crop in Autumn. 7/8th June Root Days Sow Winter 🥕 Carrots and Red as opposed to coloured varieties of Beetroot. 9/10th June Flower Days Prune Spring and early Summer flowering Shrubs once they have stopped flowering. This will stimulate the growth of young shoots for next season. Gather edible flowers for Salads.(Nasturtiums/Chives for example) 11/12th June Leaf 🌿 Days Prick out Leeks. Pull Spring Onions for Salads before they bulb up too much so become too hot 🔥 on the palate. Remember to keep topping up bird feeders with finer seed for baby birds. Well there you are, from one very weary and p......d off gardener. Happy Gardening!!!
@biofreak , hello , sorry to hear of your fall , as you say could have been a lot worse , take care
Sunday at allotment , O/H did most of the work , planted kale , Pak Choi , chard , runner beans & French beans plus watered Decided to leave some parsnips as there are flowering to see how big they grow Last picking of asparagus , most of it to tall now Strawberry 🍓 bed looking very good , I replanted last year
Can’t remember the last time it rained , water butts nearly empty but the stream at side of garden has plenty of water running in it . We have seen 2 Moor Hen chicks in stream
First day I don’t need a walking stick so gout slowly getting better , have done some tidying up of the front garden , going to tackle back garden shorty
Have you had a chance to start on your gravel garden ?
Went to doc this morning..no bones broken ..given lots of pills and potions plus laid off work for a week. Boots the Bengal is an excellent Florence Nightingale... constantly by my side even in bed..I love this cat! Gravel Garden coming along well. Popped most things in pots, but put Lavender/Poppies and Iris straight in gravel. All seem to have taken, but lots of watering needed. Hoping for rain this weekend as storm coming up through Spain. Very upset to miss Chateau Taillis Garden Fair but plenty more to come, and they have sent me an email ✉️ offering me another Stand next year, which is very sweet of them. Thanks for best wishes.
Goodness me @biofreak! You don't do things by halves, do you? I hope all the pills and potions are working well.
I've done a 3 hour round trip to the hospital at Nantes today to see an anaesthetist for all of 15 mins - bloods perfect; BP perfect; life habits perfect for safe surgery - but he insists I see a cardiologist this time cos I'm over 65 and them's the rules. I was last year too but as all was hunky dory as above he waived it.
Now I have to do another round trip on the 29th and then back again on the 2nd for the op on the 3rd. If it goes like last time I'll be home on the 6th with a knee bending machine.
Meanwhile, my own new gravel/dry bed is not going to be ready to plant u as it still has invasive, deep-rooted thistles we need to conquer so I'm busy potting on the shrubs and perennial already bought or grown from seed and then all the other babies too so they can survive OH's idea of watering for the week or so I won't be able to do it myself.
I hope that storm does deliver!

Oberlix , I trust all goes well for with Knee bending machine , interesting description very dry in Lincolnshire at the moment , however , ground water must be high as stream still quite high Biofreak I’m sure all the medication will work it’s magic 🪄 pleased to hear Bengal 🐈 is looking after you
Well we're à right lot aren't we!!! legs/knees/gout/shingles...Thank God for gardening !! Keeps us all sane. Here is my new baby! Picking him up begining July.
This year it must start with a 'U' so Uno because he was the only boy and Italian for 'one'. In France Pets have to have a name beginning with a specific letter so age can be easily identified. Will take photo of Gravel Garden to date now that I have worked out how to post a photo on this phone!
Surely the age info is icluded in their microchip and pet passport @biofreak? No-one told me about the alphabet rule when I named our two rescue kitties or the hens and all our cats and dogs are chipped.
Puppy looks very sweet. I hope you'll both be very happy and that the other critters take to him.

It's for the LOF.(.French Kennel Club) when buying à pedigree dog or cat so thet their pedigree etc is validation. Don't ask me why..When I bred my Bengals I had to adhère to this strictly. Your vet could tell you more. Not sûre about hens!! But definately dogs/cats ans horses if you are à Breeder.
