We have had a few nice days , definitely “ calm before the storm “ 💨 Hope you’ve got everything tied down W/E will finish painting spare bedroom Just had Valentines Day Afternoon Tea ☕️ , very nice
According to my weather radar map Dennis has already arrived in Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and South Wales and heading rapidly north west and across the country. Not yet showing in Brittany but that will come.
We are set to be damp and a wee bit gusty on Sunday and Monday but nothing horrendous.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Participated at 'Bio' Fair at w/e and nobody came due to storms!!! So we all packed up 3pm yesterday instead of 6pm and luckily wind had dropped as we came back on motorway so safe and sound last night. Lovely to be light at 8.15am now up until 6.30pm (French time). Moon & Sun both visible this morning until 9.30. Just wish we could have a longer dry spell, as really need to get outside and start making new borders as O/H keeps nagging about mowing around island beds and can't I join them up!!! OK -so I have on paper -just too wet to lift turfs without wrecking existing lawn (Ah but then he would not have to mow at all (Perhaps this is his ultimate plan!!!)
First dandelion flower this morning - and birds very 'frisky'Spring is coming definately.Lost count how many Starling mumerings we have seen this past week (Why is it called a 'murmering'?)
Finished decorating so spent Monday morning started tidying up allottment, clearing old cabbage , sprouts & broccoli 🥦 o/h dug up rest of leeks and has made a batch of leek & potatoe soup today Wind broke another fence post at plot
Could really do with a few dry days as lawns need cutting Weather getting stranger than ever ? On a positive note snow drops looking good and lots of bulbs coming up in garden and nights are getting lighter and we haven’t really been affected by storm Dennis
Just had a sneaky look at Lunar Weather Calender for March -You really don't want to know!!! It looks evil -Just more of the same plus 'unpredictable' I'm totally convinced about Climate Change as I believe that things come Full Circle but yes the garden does seem 'upside down at the moment. I have found some tulips that are supposed to flower in April budding up this morning BUT and it is a big BUT I have seen this false warmth before promptly stopped in its tracks by snow and horrors and Feb/March are notoriously miserable months.
Lunar Calender No gardening today 19th before 5.15am (Don't think you would be anyway!!) as noued descending.20th Feb: Fruit Days. If you have a place at 20c (In the house I would think at the moment! -Sow some Aubergines/Chillies and Peppers to get them off to a good early start.
21/22nd Feb Root Days Mooon ascending in Capricorn. Under cover sow Carrots with some Radishes.
23/24th Feb New Moon 23rd 3.31pm. Flower Days In a Nursery Bed outside sow Cauliflowers & Broccoli. In a warm place sow Impatiens & Petunias.
Making Cauliflower Cheese tonight with Stilton & Cheddar as extra tasty. Must dash Cauliflowers about to boil over!!
Bio , I like to keep an open mind as well but Cities are warmer , when we drive into Lincoln it’s always 1 or 2 degrees higher than out in the country side
Been to allotment this morning and cleaned the beds from Monday , horse manured 1 Dug up some more parsnips for the weekend they have been particularly good , still more left I remember what we called “ The Beast from East “ 2 years ago , after a mild winter Heavy snow in March and extremely cold 🥶
No gardening yesterday on Lunar Calender as Moon apogée.
27/28 February Leaf Days Sow some Spinach for Spring harvest and Lettuce and Batavia in Nursery Bed covered with fleece. Sow some Rocket/Cress and Dandelions outside keep them damp until they sprout. (That won't be difficult in this weather!!!)
29th February If you can get your greenhouse between 18-20C (or start offon windowsill first Tomatoes.
So that's February out of the way. Poured down all night but beautiful yesterday morning so O/H mowed lawn. Weather seems so contrairy at the moment. And those poor souls in the UK, if any of you have even the energy left to read this, all the very best I'm sure all Thread Readers are thinking of you.
