Just been to plot to pick a cabbage 🥬 , cut the cable ties holding netting over broccoli 🥦 as it was growing so much Sprayed the white fly on sprouts Short visit today Lettuce at home have bolted with this hot weather , cut tops off , will see if any good
There was a television play about an allotment site and the committee decided in their wisdom that all the sheds had to be painted blue, one chap revolted and painted his red.
Day five on our first allotment, and we saw our first ever Slow Worm. I can't tell you how excited I was, I have always wanted to see one. We also saw a rodent which I have never seen before, definitely not a rat/mouse, so possibly a vole. Small thrills, to break up the tedium of digging out Brambles.
Thanks GWRS not entered this year won best improved plate last year, it dangerous plot finding metal poles in the ground, and just trying to do things and not have judges walking around plot not rushing thing own pace
Barry island - Grow your own film - I really like that film good watch
KeenOnGreen - Great to see wildlife I spotted a slow worm other day
Had our first courgette today just five weeks after sowing the seed, also harvested broccoli, tomatoes, cucumber and beetroots, have runner beans and french beans ready and cauliflowers will get these over weekend as we need them.
All the other usual tasks watering, weeding etc also started to treat shed's and fit wild life cam in the hope of catching the badgers and foxes

Got new allotment today. Finally after waiting months to get an appointment to view it!
That said, the one I was actually being offered was rubbish - supposedly a halfplot but actually looked more like a third-plot at best. It was really narrow and already had three large trees spaced along it, shading most of the plot - and i was told I couldn't do anything to them.
So they showed me another that had become available - Full plot this time, with a shed (inside, a dismantled greenhouse, a petrol powered mower, two large water butts and some rotten seed potatoes!) much better positioned and shaped.
Much bigger than I'd originally wanted and quite overgrown! But the people from the council were being very realistic about expectations for how long it would take to get it into a decent state and not having to use it all at once - they also waived the deposit that they usually ask for at the beginning of a tenancy.
I'm actually quote excited about it and looking forward to getting what's practically a blank slate - there's a couple of small apple trees but they're tiny and could easily be moved in winter if need be.
Might find something else of interest when we start clearing.
Mr Vine E , those weeds look like my allotment when I started This is a great site to ask any questions Best advice I can give is just do a bit at a time , treat it as a long term project and get yourself a sitting area for Tea ☕️ Breaks Best of luck
