I got myself a cordless one, and the spool is meant to be auto feed.. I will be using it today so wish me luck! I also made a point to buy the 36 V one instead as it is significantly more powerful than the 18v ones.. I shall report back later today.

Strimmers , I bought a light weight battery Bosc one with a plastic blade , not intended for heavy use but ideal for strimming stream bank at side of house and grass around edge of allotment

I have the mac alister strimmer from B&Q cordless one 18v  need another really had for a few years and can't get spare batteries for it, run time to start with lasted about 40 - 45 mins now only about 20 - 25 minutes and you can also buy new spools of strimmer line other than that I have got ablue line similar thickness that I use by winding around myself

Did some strimming yesterday and today of plot grass and weeds still bit more to go, my purple alliums are starting to flower nicely, and the strawberry patch is doing well after the strim I gave it and the plants have flowers on

I was grass cutting today too. Then I earthed up the spuds.  Did pruning at home in the afternoon,  planning a full day on plots tomorrow.

I got a Spear&Jackson twin pack cordless trimmer and mower from Argos. Good because it came with two batteries. The trimmer is great getting everything shorter if it’s been left a while and the mower is really easy to use to keep it all down more regularly.

Trimmer lasts ages and the mower can do most of the plot on a full battery and that’s actually quite a large area, as it’s a full plot and I was mowing not just paths but also the whole of the front third of the plot.

I’ve been quite impressed with them, light and easy to use, and much less noisy and smelly than their petrol counterparts on other plots.

@Mr. Vine Eye  that sound good spare battery and lasts a long time
I have grass patches on plot then grass paths around plot and I seem to be the one doing all 3 sides as new neighbours not - one with no grass cutter

Did more strimming today little bit more to do to finish plot, then the paths around plot will need a strim as got little long

I know it's not as big as you allotmenteers, but this is my patch finally finished. Except for the pesky beans that refuse to grow. ( now on my third lot chitting in the house) Plus I have raspberries and the greenhouse full.😁

I agree,  size is immaterial,  it's what you get out of it that counts. I wish I was that organized 😄
