Barry Island , why not go for an hour or so for exercise , just to keep it ticking over
We have Rhubard ready for picking !
Also what about people who have chickens 🐓?

I agree feeding chickens would take a few minutes and needs doing but I have spuds waiting to go in a four hour job, and if like today loads of others turn up it looks like flouting the rules on large gatherings to me, I guess the council will be in touch tomorrow to clarify the situation.

Should be OK if everyone keeps their distance, stays on their own plot and doesn't share tools.  It's exercise and you're allowed out for that if you keep your distance.

Still waiting for some news as to whether allotmenting is classed as exercise so will have to go and clean the back garden fishpond filter out instead at least I will get some fresh air.

Saw Michael Gove on BBC Breakfast this morning.  He says it is perfectly sensible for people to continue to go to their allotment, as long as they observe social distancing.  The major flaw at our allotments is that everyone shares the same gate/padlock when going in and out.  Some of us are using gloves, but most plot holders haven't realised that this is a potential risk area.  I assume it's the same on most allotments, as they are usually locked.

Busier today at the plot (literally) than Piccadilly Circus. Saw this on an elderly friend's plot, made me smile.

Hello , been to allotment today , pleased common sense prevailed, not many people there
Used hand sanitiser when using the gate locks
Planted carrots 🥕, parsnips ,  raddish & turnips
O/H weeded onion & garlic beds and had a good burn up of Rosemary bushes that the weed destroyed that we had to cut up
    Overall a really good day
    Stay safe everybody

Rushed to the allotment yesterday afternoon after confirmation that it was allowed under the government guidelines, bust a gut in the afternoon heat (I usually allotment first thing in the morning) to get four rows of spuds in the ground, checked my e-mail last evening to see that the council allotment officer had ordered all allotments close immediately.
Spent today in the garden pricking out onions and leeks not knowing if they would ever get to be transplanted into the allotment plot, just checked my e-mail to see that the allotment officer has now said that allotments can open up again as long as health rules are followed. They will probably close them again tomorrow the way things are going.

I did not go today as I did rather a lot the last 2 days but also because the site was rather too busy yesterday for my liking. People were being responsible but I still feel uncomfortable with people there I never normally see. Will go back Friday to put the early spuds in though.
