Hello purplerallim all welcome here even garden growers sound a great harvest on the cherries you got from a young tree with out the birds getting them all, I would say very impressive with potato harvest, I have not grown charlotte potatoes before
I have not harvested any potatoes yet, had some nice broad beans, little year on year sunflowers have started to flower now the plant has got bigger spread and is a good metre in height
Went around a brickworks museum today lots to see and got a ride on a steam wagon - lots of minature trains about as event on
Back to plot tomorrow going to be a hot week by the weather forcast
Allotment today as every day open up tunnel and water, harvest what's available, been building a trellis for a passion fruit completed that this morning with the planting of the vine has a few flowers but don't expect any edible fruit this year. Sowed Swede, Parsley, in modulus and some old (2014) foxglove seed I found in a draw at home yesterday give them a go nothing to loose

Went to allotment on the way home to water Also Picked first lot of Blueberries , amazing taste compared to shop bought ones also some red currants , raspberries and round courgettes as they where getting a bit big , managed to give some courgettes away to other plot holders Noticed a roses arch has broken , another job to do ! That wasn’t planned Hope to spend Wednesday there Hottest day so far 29 degrees
First day at our first ever allotment. It hasn’t been cultivated in 5 years. 7ft Brambles, nettles, old carpets and other junk. Are we mad?!!
I am afraid that is par for the course when you take over a plot. Newcomers often look ruefully at the best plots on our site & ask "can't I have one like that" we reply "of course you can if you work at it for the next 5-10 years". Little & often is the key, clear a bit sow/ plant something, clear a bit more you will get there.
Don't be one of the many who dig and toil and then give up, I've had my plot since 2012 and have seen so many full of enthusiasm only to fall by the wayside.
Welcome to the club KeenOnGreen slow and sure is the way it's hard work for sure the first year or so but when you start to reap the benefits and taste the difference you know its all been worth it.
One thing I would say is don't be to afraid to use weedkillers to get you started especial for the brambles and perennial weeds once the ground is clear you can turn to organic if that's the way you want to go, it's what I did and initially saved me a few years of hard work.

Thanks @Allotment Boy @barry island and @Hampshire_hog Went down to the plot early today, as it is predicted to be over 30c today. In just a few hours yesterday and today we have cleared several square metres, and a rudimentary path is almost ready to be covered with membrane and bark chippings. It's a tiny fraction of what needs to be done, but it lifts the spirit to see an early result for the effort. Another plot holder did suggest weedkiller for the Brambles, but we've always gardened organically, and we don't like to use it when we will eating from this plot in the not too distant future, not to mention our neighbours.
Keenongreen , just to repeat what’s been said a bit at a time , most people who give up try to do it all in one go Please feel free to ask any questions , I have found this very useful , books are good but nothing like practical experience Best tip make sure you have a sitting area for Tea ☕️ breaks Best of luck
